My first Neely recipe and I was impressed! Made this as our Sunday dessert. Found that cooking the entire 45 mins is too long. Read the previous reviews and next time I will cook less time. It was a little dry, but I added a little water and it recovered. I used a
11 x 7 glass pyrex dish, two large granny smith apples instead of five, chopped as instructed, doubled the topping recipe, added an additional handful of brown sugar and oatmeal to the topping for crunch & sweetness and one large scoop of Edy's French Vanilla ice cream. I've decided to omit the salt next time as I found it's really not needed. My husband requested I add additional cinnamon the next time. All I can say is we almost hurt ourselves eating this. It was gone in less than two complete days. Adding this to our Thanksgiving menu. Yum.......

OMG! I don't eat cooked fruit, especially apples and I thought this was just wonderful and easy and so did the rest of the family. Great right out of the oven!!! I'll make it again.

I guess my family's taste for desserts is different than the majority of the folks here who tried this recipe. We found it much too sweet - we all left it in our plates unfinished. If you don't like overly sweet desserts, this may not be the recipe for you.

BEST apple crisp I've ever eaten! The brown sugar in the filling caramelized and created a light coating to the apples which, with the pecans, made me picture a caramel apple! There is nothing to change or add, as this is perfect as-is. I normally add a lot of spice to my apple dishes (nutmeg, allspice, cloves, etc so I was nervous about only adding a bit of cinnamon, but the deep richness of the brown sugar made the simplicity of the cinnamon something special!

Absolutely loved this. It was gone in one setting. My friends couldn't stop talking about it. I wanted more of a pie feel to it, so I sliced the apples, rather than dice them. It was great!

This is my new reason to go back to the apple orchard!!! I made this with the apples leftover from a field trip to the orchard and loved it. I've made apple crisp before but never prepared the filling. Usually make crumb topping and just covered the diced apples. Yumminess at its best!

I made this for my boyfriend and our roommate and it wasn't until it was in the oven that I realized I forgot the maple syrup. Even without that added layer of flavor we all thought it was awesome! You could really taste the true flavor of the apples with the pecans, great combo! Definitely will be making this again. SUPER easy!
