I had no idea what to expect from this recipe. Made this for bookclub because I needed a side dish that included "southern" ingredients. This salad is absolutely wonderful. Very easy to throw together - the longer it sits the better it tastes. This is a keeper to be made on a regular basis - thank you for such a great side dish!

I made this to the letter with the exception of adding 1/2 can of delmonte summer crisp corn. Everyone loved it. Thanks for something new to add to my summer barbque.

Followed recipe to the letter and so glad I did! Incredible flavors and texture. Shared with friends and neighbors and they were all asking me for the recipe. One friend is going to make for a bridal shower. Is a keeper!

This salad is delicious. It's very fresh tasting. Light enough for summer meals and great for Christmas gatherings because it has holiday colors. I also added corn. Tastes great and is healthy too---Can't beat that.

I was born in the south, and hated black eyed peas as a kid - but I discovered I LOVE them as an adult! I usually eat them hot, on greens and/or cornbread, in true southern fashion, but when I saw this on the Neely's show, I realized my family used to make this...
I tried it out for a party, and people ate it like a salsa, on pita chips (non-southerners...it was great that way, but for me, it's a side dish, and a great packable lunch. It's also now my picnic, barbeque and potluck staple -- I can make it the night before, never have to worry about anyone else showing up with the same thing and I have yet to get anything but rave reviews for it! Even people who think they don't like black eyed peas love this receipe. It's a great recipe!

I made this recipe for Christmas this year because I wanted a healthy option at the table. It was an absolute hit! Within 10 minutes it was all gone. Even the little kids loved it. I'm planning to make this for every holiday now! Thank you Neelys!! You're wonderful. :

I made this over the summer and it was a great side with all of the favorite things we love to make during the summer. Goes great with fried fish or chicken! Thanks Neelys! This was a winner and is a keeper for our family. Tastes even better the next day.

This, too, was my first time trying the recipe...and I must say I LOVED IT!! The texture was wonderful, the flavors WOW...just the right saltyness, the right sweetness, and acidity. I coupled it with a Memphis-style BBQ Ckn.

This is an amazing salad...I like the different textures, the slightly sweet, slightly salty and slight acidity. I'm coupling it with Memphis-style BBQ Ckn. MMmmmmm good!
