I've never had black eyed peas before, but this recipe sounded so good I had to try it. I wasn't left disappointed at all! This dish was amazing, especially on a hot summer day. Thought the onions might have been overpowering, but it wasn't. I'll make this dish again and again =

I made this salad after watching the show because we have a BBQ joint in town that serves a similar salad that my husband loves. But this recipe is THE BEST. Will make it again and again. So easy and so delish.

This was wonderful!!!! I did have to tweak it a bit. Add smoked flaked red peppers, pinch of oregano and garlic powder and white vinegar (no haberno, rice wine vingar, red onion and a couple of extra green onions and some whole kernel corn (as one poster suggested. Saved half and served with chips,, the rest I served with collard greens and a smoked ham with honey cornbread. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made this dish for a family gathering and it was a big hit. Someone at the family gathering bought the traditional black-eyed peas and no one ate them. I made a double batch and it was gone in a matter of hours. This is the best recipe. I make this dish at twice a month.

It is funny how 'an old made to eat veggie' or overplayed card trick can look so different with only just a bit of imagination...one rater said it 'was too hot'---do place in apple cidar vinegar, and regular bell pepper (instead of rice with jalapeno's, would be an example? Most any family member can enjoy a salad such as this 1, if there are no major allergies as to their 'dislike,' if only with an addition or sub. The Neely's are such fun folks when you view their shows on the tube and have tasty treats by me. I look forward to this recipe in lieu of the old standard three bean next time I need to address a edgy 'new crowd pleaser' at a BBQ this spring & summer! Cheers & thanks! :-D

I made this for my husband, and he loves it! It's delicious just as it is, but I added sweet corn to the recipe, just for a little more sweetness. We also used wheat crackers to scoop it with and it's really tasty. It's also good with tortillas. I'll definitely make this again. It's great for a party or appetizer for company.

We have an annual Super Bowl party at a relative's house every year and all who are invited are requested to bring a side and a dessert. I am going to make three batches of this wonderful salad and your Momma's Sock it to me Cake.

I can't wait to hear the ohhhh's and ahhh's of who brought the black eye peas salad. I will raise my hand high in this crowd of about 50 guests - this will make make my day. There is much competition with the ladies in this group (you know what I mean and I plan to be at the top of the food chain with this salad.

    Delicious...

    THANK YOU NEELY'S, AGAIN.
