I didn't want to stew cabbage again so I was looking for something different. It had a great flavor and a little spice. I didn't have the celery seed so I did without, and I substituted a bag of carrots, broccoli and cauliflower for the carrots and it was excellent! I will make this again.

Absolutely delicious! It is a new favorite in our house. I have made it twice, the first time as directed, but it only took half the time to cook. The second time, I started it out on the stove and instead of bacon, I used holiday kielbasa. Then, when the cabbage was softened, I put it in the crock pot. I added carrots at the same time, too. So good!!! Love it!

Good, but spicy! Next time, I'll cut way back on the cayenne!

I loved it. There was a great smokey flavor from the bacon. The smash seasoning created a sweet and spicy flavor to add to the cabbage. It's a wonderful side dish

I liked this recipe. I'm a cabbage fan anyway, but I really like the carrots in the cabbage. If you like "the kick" that Gina is always talking about, then the Smash recipe is definitely great. I read a few reviews that said the recipe was too spicy. I think the spice is a matter of preference. I still added hot sauce to my cabbage after using the Smash seasoning. I would recommend tasting the cabbage with one tablespoon Smash first if you're not a bigger spicy fan. The only thing I did differently was that I added some creole seasoning close to the end. I did not cook the cabbage for 2 hours. I cooked it to the texture I like which was for 45 minutes to an hour.

I added about a tsp of sugar. Not for sweetness, but to cut the bitterness of cabbage. I also only cooked about 30 minutes. I think 2 hrs is an error even though I heard Gina say it. You would have cabbage mush if it cooked 2 hrs. It may be tasty, but mushy just the same. Cabbage should not be mushy. That's why I say you have to use you common sense when cooking. I think only collard greens take 2 hrs to cook.

We love cabbage so I am always looking for a new way to cook this veggie. This recipe was outstanding. I only cooked it for a total of 45 minutes instead of the 2 hours it called for. We like a little crunch to our cabbage. We will be making this again!
