I was unsure about trying this recipe because of some of the reviews. I'm so glad I made these because I was very pleasantly surprised. This recipe was easy, quick, and best of all, made for a very tasty biscuit! I've tried several buttermilk biscuit recipes, and they never come out quite right for me, but these did wonderfully. They were golden brown on the inside, soft and melt-in-your-mouth on the inside, and they rose beautifully. I took the advice of other reviewers, and instead of just leaving my biscuits in for 20 minutes without checking, peeked in on them every 5 minutes. It actually only took 13 minutes in my oven.

The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because, when plain, I can taste the slightest hint of baking soda. Perhaps I didn't sift the ingredients well, though.

this is a great recipe, all ovens vary so you should know to adjust you oven. like my oven cooks fast so it says preheat to 475 i preheated mine to 400. i fixed this recipe and added ingredients and they came out like my grandmothers. um um good. so dont blame the recipe because you cant cook. if you dont burn can biscuits you shouldnt have burned these. i mixed this recipe and one from emeril. good combo. so you guys dust yourselves off and try again.

I am a good cook, but this is a terrible recipe. The oven temperature was way too high and the cook time too long. I cranked the oven back to 450 and checked the biscuits after 15 minutes. They brown, almost burned, and they barely rose at all. Skinny, super brown biscuits. What a waste of groceries!

I followed this recipe exactly as stated and I also watched the Neely's make them on tv. These biscuits were BURNT!!! Don't waste your time trying to make them. I am very disappointed that the Neely's give you the wrong instructions. Doesn't Food Network test these recipes?? Just wondering.

I made these biscuits and they were very good. I did drop the temperature to 450 and only baked for 12 minutes. I did add some chunks of cheddar and they came out very good. I will try more recipes from the Neely's.

I've made biscuits from stratch and also from pre-made mixes but this recipe beat them all. It is easy and the biscuits taste yummy. Just be sure to put butter in freezer like the recipe says. The colder the butter the flaker the biscuits!!

I followed the recipe to a T. Burnt hockey pucks is what I got. Recipe did not tell you to flour the cutting instrument, which I did. Oven was too hot . . . Please send me a recipe that works!

I think that these would have been great however my oven was too hot! The parchment paper was even a dull brown! Also, I used our regular salted butter and I think there was too much salt in the biscuits. I will try them again with unsalted butter!

I made these biscuits on Christmas morning and had the same problem with the temperature - I followed the receipe, set the oven to 475 and baked the biscuits for 20 minutes. They were very, very brown and had to be thrown away - even the parchment paper was brown around the edges. The receipe is very easy to follow and is quick to make once the butter has been put in the freezer for a little while. I did make the Spiced Butter to go along with the biscuits too and next time I will use unsalted butter which the receipe dosen't call for it just says butter. I felt it was to salty but still was very good.
