When i first saw this recipe i got excided to make it for Christmas so i bought everything i needed and follow the instructions i even saw the video before i made them i read some of the comments by other people and i thought wao they are so harsh! foodnetwork is great! i love being able to whip something new for my family any time of the day just by going in the foodnetwork and watching my girl Giada, Love her! well i have to say thought the candy cane cookies were a disappointment, the dough was sticky i have it in the fridge right now hoping that will help. It sure did look easy when the Neelys did it but it did not come out the same at all! it was a waste of money truly.

Thank you foodnetwork & Have a Merry Christmas all.

I hate to add to the awful comments but I feel that I should warn everyone not to make these "cookies". In fact, I really think the FN should take this recipe off their website. I can't believe this was in the "12 days of Cookies"?!? These were salty, took a TON of food coloring (3 drops--HA!, and I ended up throwing the dough away because they were so impossible to shape. As for the food network, I don't know what's going on...I am 28 years old and have been watching religously every Saturday and Sunday morning for the last 5 years. Almost all of my recipes are from these shows and my friends consider me to be the "chef" of our group. I must admit, I rarely use the recipes anymore and lately don't even watch unless there is nothing else on. The new website is also very hard to use. I miss the OLD food network! What happened???

The recipe says 1 3/4 cups flour and in the video he says 2 1/4 cups flour so what is it really don't matter the cookies are still bad.

I thought that this would be an easy, quick, and adorable cookie for my sister's tree trimming dinner this weekend, but I found out that it was a complete waste of time! The dough was not easy to work with and fell apart even before attempting to shape the candy canes.

I ended up just cutting the dough into circles and decorating them with drizzled white chocolate to look like ornaments. But the taste is definitely not worth the effort.

I used a different sugar cookie recipe and just made one green batch and one red batch and it worked out wonderfully! The key was the keep the dough as cold as possible in order to make it work and keep it from disintegrating. My cookies were beautiful and everyone thought they were a great idea!

This isn't exactly a recipe I would expect from "Celeb Chefs." In fact, the whole line up of Christmas cookies have been throughly disappointing. I always look forward to the e-mails I receive from Food Network during the "12 days of Cookies." This year, not so much. The recipes are mostly along the same vein of "Dry and Powdery." The "Cherry Berry Bars" look awful. My kids literally said "Yuk" when I tried to sell them on the picture and the recipe. I will give A.B. props for swooping in and saving the day with his "Macaroons."

I long for the days of Paula Deen's "Savanna Bow Ties," which have become one of the most requested cookie during the holidays. BTW, a lot of your audience are experienced bakers. Not professional, but EXPERIENCED. Give us some credit. Also, could you please, please, please make it easier to find a recipe without all the videos and other superfluous nonsense.

Sorry to be a Scrooge, but I like to add to my holiday cookie collection. Alas, I will only be making the greatest hits this year.....

These cookies lacked flavor.... they desparately need vanilla or even peppermint flavor to perk them up... the dough is a bit hard to shape as well.... but they do look cute on a Christmas tree. I even shaped a few into little wreaths and stars.... not going to eat anymore however

Instead of using butter in this recipe, use a plain shortening like Crisco (not the butter flavored. It holds up better and gives the cookie some body and support. Also, they were flavorless, so I added 1 tsp of vanilla extract (you could use almond, too, and it helped a bit. If worse comes to worse, you can always frost them!
