The rice was very very good, however, the combination of the 3 (sauce, collards, and dirt rice was not a hit in my household. It seems as though the sauce completely drowned out all the flavors of the rice and the rice is the best part of the dish. Also, my collards were a little tough, making it hard to cut and eat. We loved the rice that's why I am giving this 4 stars. I will attempt this recipe again and next time pre-cook the collards longer and maybe use less of the sauce and see if the flavors of all the ingredients come through more. The rice gets 5 stars!!!

I saw this episode and the dish looked so good I had to give it a try. Boy, am I glad I did. It was every easy to make and taste quite delicious. This is the first recipe I made from the Neelys and they did not disappoint. Great recipe.

I wasn't expecting any company on Christmas day, just the six of us, my husband and 4 children. I did all the prep work the day before,so all I had to do was bake it. Well, by dinnertime I had 4 more mouths to feed. I was a little worried about serving this recipe without tasting it first. Everyone loved it!! Since I had 3 requests, a birthday dinner and my niece wants it when she comes for spring break. Make that 4 requests, my husband just added this to his birthday menu!
    Thank you Pat and Gina

I was very intrigued by this recipe. I halved it & it turned out just perfect. It was so flavorful with a nice little kick. The Neely's recipes haven't disappointed thus far. :

I was going out on a limb with this one since my husband can be very picky. It was very good. But I followed the directions exactly and it was too spicy for myself and my kids couldn't eat it. I will definitely take the cayenne down a notch or two next time. My husband ate it but I don't think he was impressed. I thought the rice was great but something was missing in the sauce....it just didn't pack the punch like the rice did.
