I was looking for a way to use smoked sausage I had and not much of any other ingredients on hand for dinner and came across this. The Neelys are a little too chirpy for me but the few shows I've watched, their food looked good so it was worth a try. I did not have celery & cayenne so I drained a can of tomatoes with green chiles and used about 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes. I also cooked my rice in water and not chicken stock but it turned out perfect. My home smells like chiles and I love it. Will definitely make this again for a quick weeknight dinner. It only took me 30 mins to prepare.

This dish was great! I made the rice in my rice cooker. I really like using the chicken broth instead of water. We also tasted the kick of the cayenne pepper, Neely style. I will be making this again!

I've made this many times, always a hit. Everyone wanted the recipe when I added this to our thanksgiving meal. It's quick, easy and very good. I've added ground turkey with the smoked sausage each time. Love the Neelys have tried many of their recipes. Haven't been disappointed yet!!!! Keep them coming, they give me so many ideas. Love their positive energy!

This rice was so moist and full of flavor. The cayenne pepper was just the right touch. Will definately make this again.

My husband and I both really enjoyed this recipe. I am on the Weight Watchers Program, so I modified it slightly by using FF Chicken Broth and Jenny-O 98% Fat Free Smoked Turkey Sausage, as well as adding some frozen, pre-cooked, shrimp at the last minute. It was wonderful! Will definitely be making this again and again. Thank you Neeleys!

My family Really loved this! Usually everyone's a critic in my family, but not with this recipe. It was good and spicy and full of flavor. I did add some more cayenne pepper though.

I haven't made this recipe yet but - come on people, how many people don't know how to cook rice. The liquid in which you cook the rice is always double the amount of rice! 1 cup of rice, 2 cups of liquid; 2 cups of rice, 4 cups of liquid, etc. etc. etc.

I used really cold rice the second time I made this and that made a big difference when I re-heated it with the other ingredients. Way better that way. I also made it before and used hot links too instead of smoked sausage. That was AWESOME if you are brave and/or if you don't have cayenne pepper.I also think you can omit the parsley and still love it too for those on a budget.
