I love this potato salad recipe. I made this last night to take over to my mother's house today for Thanksgiving and when I tasted it this morning after letting it sit overnight in the fridge it tasted GREAT!!!! This is my first time making potato salad. I did however make some changes. I used regular mayo and I didn't add celery since I didn't have any. I also chopped up all 3 eggs and put in the potato salad and everything turned out FANTASTIC!!!! I will definitely make this again, it's a keeper!!!! Thanks, Neelys!!!

This is how my grandmother, mother and myself have always made Potato Salad it is a southern dish and is so delicious, Yes the key is Miracle Whip, I was 18 years old when I had my first taste of Mayo, really LOL, Some dishes are made for Miracle Whip not Mayo and that is where you get that awesome flavor that everyone raves about . I only use miracle whip with my deviled eggs also, if it is salad it calls for Miracle Whip ( Salad Dressing Love watching the Neely's,.

This recipe is delicious. Thank you. I added shredded carrots and blanched green beans to add some veggies into our side dish, along with using low-fat olive oil mayo . Big Yum!!

The only reason why I didn't give this a 5 is because I don't like white onion in my pot salad. I only like green onion bottoms. Okay and I absolutely only want Hellman's mayo or Best Foods on the west coast. I also added about half of a red bell pepper and seasoned salt Seasoned salt taste so much better in potato salad than reg salt to me and also added pepper. With those things changed it became a 5 because I like a sweet type of potato salad. I forgot I did add 2 extra eggs and I kept the skins on the potatoes.

It's not the best by far so I can only give it one star. If I use mayo then I have to add sugar, otherwise I use miracle whip style dressing, lots of green onion instead of regular onion, no relish, spoils it for me and my family. The mustard is a must and if you want a creamier salad, add more eggs, 1 or 2 for every potato isn't too much. Sliced radishes add a little zip and crunch. Now here's a secret I learned not that long ago from a recipe site. The day before you're using potato salad, mix all your vegetables and eggs with white vinegar, not too much but enough so when you stir the mixture it all gets a little coating of it. Then the next day add your mayo, mustard, sugar or miracle whip and mustard. Makes a big diff for the flavours to mingle over night.
