I made this in a crockpot and did follow the recipe exactly except for the tomato paste. I subbed a bit of ketchup. I also deep fried the chops as they did and then added to the crock. This is a wonderful soup/stew! Love the show!

I made this last night for dinner. here are my observations:
Add 1 T tomato paste as per the show.
Add salt and pepper to the vegetables as they are cooking.
Add seasonings directly to the pork and the flour.
Cooking time is greatly under estimated. I started at making at 4:15 and the green beans were still not completely soft by 6:30. I simmered with lid on for over an hour.
It turned out good, but for my taste, it needs a little more in the seasoning dept.

    Hey out their,
want to try something really good, fast, and most of all: hit's the spot. Try this recipe. I made it for my family the other night, and it was a hit. just one more thing, you can't have it without the corn bread recipe that goes with it. Hey Neely's welcome to the foodnetwork. nice having you.
    Enjoying your show,

A friend took us on a tour of Memphis a few years back and a visit to the Neelys' Restaurant was his first choice for our luncheon introduction to Memphis good eatin'. All enjoyed every morsel and the atmosphere and service were excellent. My family is excited that we can recreate some of those good Neely vibes at home in our own kitchen! Thank you Food Network for the armchair trip back to one of our most enjoyable food memories! We're cookin' now! . . . and thanks to Pat and Gina especially . . .

When I saw the soup on the show I knew I had to try it. I'm glad I did because it was pretty good. I would have never thought to add fried pork chops but it worked. I usually fry mine and smother with a tomato gravy but this is much better and more filling. To the haters out there, the show hasn't been on that long; I'm sure they both have a lot to learn. I guess this is why they have 2 popular resturants and employ 85 people. I guess her voice is ok for all the famous people who eat and that's why they now have their own show. She doesn't seem "bossy" to me. Her and Paula should do a duet in the kitchen. Now that would be fun! Rate the RECIPES!

Once I saw them make this on their show, I had to make it myself as soon as I could. Tonite I did, and it was great. The vegetable soup alone was excellent, and the pork meat added the chew to make it a complete meal. I particularly liked the way it thickened up when it cooked. Yes, it took a bit longer than the recipe suggests, but my pork was probably not the quality of theirs.
I like the rapport the Neely's have with each other. It's a show I won't miss. Their enthusiasm is infectious, and the way they play with each other is fun to watch.

I made it today and my wife loved it. This was my first time making a soup and I agree with others that tomato paste needs to be added along with seasoning to taste. The fried pork chops blended well with the vegetable soup to add a nice flavor. Seems like you can also use fried boneless, skinless thighs as I cooked some on the side. Who would of thought soup and fried food went together.

Props to the Foodnetwork for adding the Neely's to the lineup. This has been LONG overdue!! Now if you just get Gina to turn down the sexual innuendo a little

This recipes looks really wonderful and I plan to make it soon. As for the negative remarks concerning Gina, I thought this forum is for rating the recipes not the show's host. If you don't like her don't watch the show.

I was not crazy about this recipe. It took longer for the veggies to cook and I just didn't care for the taste of the soup. The pork chop was o.k. By-the-way, in the show she adds 1 tbsp. of tomato paste after the flour and it left out of the written recipe.
