I made this for a Sunday meal. My husband is usually a picky eater but he loved every kernel of corn in this recipe. I used my sister and my mom for the guinea pigs. That food went so quick they didnt even notice that I forgot to put in my chopped onions! I would definitely do this recipe again.

Looks very delicious,my Fiance was watching the show together and she asked me try all the recipes for the show, but of course, I will tone done the recipes, because it is only me and her, that was enough food there for a family of six or more. Never ever thought of deep frying pork chops though that is a very good twist.
Love watching the Neely's in action, reminds me of me and my Fiance when we interact in the kitchen. She wasn't bossy she was being herself and they have been married for a long time, and it works for them.

The recipe is clear and delicious. Salt and pepper requirements come with tasting. People who cook have brains and the Neely's respect it.
I love the exchange between this southern married couple. They're a welcome diversity to the food channel. Loosen up, Massachusets (OMG.

I would just like to say that I have really enjoyed the show. It has been a long time coming for an African American couple on the foodnetwork. I am on my way out to buy the ingredients for this wonderful looking recipe. I agree with others that Gina is too over bearing and she needs to tone it down a bit. She does not have to get away from who she is but everybody does have to be subject to her bossiness and ghetto behavior. With that being said I still like the show Gina just needs to take it down a 1000.

I have a similar recipe using beef and never thought about using port chops. I did need to simmer a little longer than recipe states. I'm disturbed about the negative comments about how Gina treats her husband. Have you not ever been around a Southern person or African-Americans? She's just playin' with him. I think she has the cutest personality, and why anyone would want to be around her. Get a grip, people!

Yes, the recipe was very good, I'll make a couple of changes next time. Those would be just personal preferences. I think from now on I will record the show and fast forward through Gina's parts of it. She is annoying and I don't need to watch her. Pat is great though and I plan to try the recipes if they look as good as those I have seen.

I watched the show yesterday and noticed they used 1 T. tomato paste in soup recipe but when I went online to copy it that was not mentioned...also no mention of salt and pepper. I'm glad I was watching the show...

We love Gina! Everything she does is with a fun and loving spirit. There's no pretention, no fake accents (ahemGIADAahem, and the food is simple and comforting. This show fills a definate void on the Food Network and we look forward to the up and coming episodes.

Much love from Memphis, Pat and Gina!
