My husband doesn't like too much heat in his food, so I left out the chili flakes. But the lemon really brightened the beans. Great left overs the next day too!

This was a good recipe but the less on the chili flakes. They overpowered it a little.

As a dyed in the wool Northerner, I thought these were fabulous. When it comes to dishes like this, I don't measure much -- used enough beans for the 5 of us, the zest of one lemon, and about a tablespoon each butter and olive oil. I wish I'd made a lot more! The flavors were great together, and a wonderful accompaniment for our burgers.

I loved these green beans. I made them for my family and it was a big hit. I love the extra "kick" that the red pepper gave. The lemon zest just topped it off.

Pretty hard to make green beans outstanding, but this recipe gives them some zip, so five stars. Wasn't sure about the lemon zest, but all ingredients combined for a flavorful, refreshing dish. My husband, not a green bean fan, actually liked them!

We loved this, took it to a steak cookout and it was a hit. I did change some things. I cooked two pieces of bacon and used the drippins with the oil and butter *used less oil* and then topped the dish with the bacon bits. I also used ground red pepper instead, more subtle. It was a good alternative to the traditional green bean.

These green beans were good, but I don't know if I liked the lemon flavor. It overpowered the garlic. Next time I think I'll use the same recipe, but substitute Parmesan cheese for the lemon zest. If you like lemon, you'll love this.

This is such a good dish, and I usually don't like green beans. It tastes like scampi. Good job Neely's. I've tried a few of your recipes and they're all really good. Your show is great too. I love how you incorporate your family and traditions.
