You need to read this recipe and do exactly as it says. The other reviewers who are complaining about the consistency obviously did not, and as a result, they messed up their dish and then try to place the blame on the recipe. This was a great recipe, although it was a bit too sweet. I made it again and cut the sugar in half, and it turned out perfect! Will definitely make this again.

I never rate recipes... but this one I had to. I made this for a party and I was so embarressed. It was overly sweet and never set like a pudding. I do not use prepackaged mixes, but in this case, I wish I would have bought a box of vanilla pudding mix and layered it with bananas. This recipe should be removed from food network site or updated. I am not a novice cook. I own and operate a dessert business. I know how to follow a recipe.

It was amazing, brought back great memories of my granny making it. I did not have a problem with the pudding thickening. I used instant pudding prior to this time, it was awful and nothing like homeade. My family and I will not turn back, this will be a recipe to keep for all occasions. I did not think it was too sweet, I brought up on it tasting this exact way. I have an aunt who makes it like this and it tastes great and sweet too! Thanks Neely's lovin' it!

Everyone loved it! This was my second time making this banana pudding and made a few changes. I only used a little over 1 1/2 cups of sugar and used cool whip lite. Trying to cut down on sugar intake. The first time I made it, it was too sweet.

I don't know what I did right but it turned out perfect! The pudding thickened and I read all the reviews of how it didn't thicken but after careful tasting what was sweet to me wasn't sweet enough to my son so sweetness is a matter of taste. I say right for the measurements. I couldn't wait for it to set, I added the mixture after an hour because I like soft wafers and it taste as good as i expected if not better. I doubled up on the recipe and it worked out just like the recipe called for. Thanks Neely's.

Very tasty but I read the reviews the second time around. Bump the heat or you will only make banana soup (which I did the 1st time. About 6 on an electric stove. If it hasn't thickened by the time you get it off the stove, the fridge is not going to help. Cut the sugar 3/4 at least and be patient. It takes more that 15 mins, more like 35 depending on the heat. Thanks kh1993.

this recipe is so easy to make but you still have to use common sense with any recipe. instead of using 2 cups of sugar i used 1 1/2. remember to taste your food. add sugar to your taste. it wont hurt to taste the milk/ sugar mixture. this is where your common sense come in. duh!! i read in some of the other reviews that their pudding was runny. 1st when cooking my milk mixture i put the heat on medium-low heat. i let it thicken by itself and then stir. of course i didnt sit there and let the milk burn! it took 25-30 min max for it to get a certain thickness i like. 15min is not enough. after that i followed the rest of the recipe directions and my pudding came out perfect. thick and not to sweet. great job neely's

Delicious!!!! Just as I remember as a child. I'd suggest to add less sugar and more flour to your liking, otherwise if you like it true homestyle, you'll love this recipe.
