We love "naner puddin' and couldn't wait to try this recipe, but it was a disaster. Why? It is waaaay too sweet even though I used 1 3/4 cups of sugar. The pudding did not thicken/firm up beyond goop stage which caused the cookies to become totally saturated mush. Sorry to say we didn't even eat it - right into the trash after all that work and anticipation. Boo hoo! We loved Alton Brown's version though, yum!

I made this recipe and mine thickened up perfectly. I evaporated my own milk so it was hot when i added the dry ingredients... it was thick immediately and it thickened to the perfect consistency after 15 minutes of constant stirring. I also had it on medium high (a 6 on my electric stove instead of low. Also, I did cut the sugar in half and then I added twice as much vanilla.. It turned out really good though.

The Best Banana Pudding!!!!! I've tried alot to find the very best and this one wins. The pudding is runny though, but I could drink it in a glass it's so good, so I don't care that much.

This pudding was so yummy! I agree with some of the other reviews that it really is a tad too sweet for my taste (and I have a huge sweet tooth but that didn't stop me from enjoying every bite. Next time I might put just a little less sugar in it. It also took more like 30 minutes for the pudding to thicken, rather than the 15 that the recipe suggests. I usually made the recipe on the vanilla wafers box, and I wanted to try something different. I really liked the whipped cream being in the layers of this recipe. Excellent.

disappointed....cooked on low-med heat and the 6 TBSP flour never thickened filling. Turned out runny....don't recommend without adjustments....

Loooooved It!! After reading the reviews first, of course, I bumped the heat up so that the pudding would thicken and added only 1 cup of sugar. It was a smash hit for my first time!

Worth every review I read and the extra trip to purchase evaporated milk. Creamy, and full of flavor. I started with 1.5 cups of sugar and added a little more at a time as I tasted until I actually put in the full 2.5 cups. Not too sweet for me but husband said was a little too much for him. But he agreed the unsweetned whipped cream balances it out as it's in between layers. I took to a 4th of July cookout and it was loved by everyone. I will be using this again when I want to impress the rest.
