I made this and was totally disapointed it was extremely tooo sweet My family is from W.Va and KY so I know southern cooking I suggest not making this. I have made the Neely's limeade frozen pie which was great. The custard never thicken and was very liquid

I was very disappointed in this recipe. I thought that it was going to be easy to make and enjoyable to taste. I should have went with the rest of the reviews and opted out of trying this recipe, but I went against my better judgment, which ended costing me in the end. The custard never did thicken, and it was very sweet. So I ended up throwing away that batch and starting fresh with the recipe on the side of the box. Way better than the Neely's

This will become a family recipe staple for us! It was delicious. I also was concerned about making it the first time after reading some of the reviews since it was for guests as well, but I'm so glad I did. My pudding thickened within the 15 minutes as stated, but I did raise the temperature closer to medium low/medium. I would recommend this if you want a great homemade taste!

To everyone who thinks it is too sweet-this is a SOUTHERN DESSERT...believe me I know some people who would put more sugar!

With the 15 minutes on low heat I figured it out...people are right up the heat to low-med, being as you will constantly stir you will be ok. It took me about 31 minutes to get the pudding to thicken.

The Neely's are food network stars so their professional stoves are not like ours at home. Their low we need to use low to med.

If you do not like the sweetness just cut the sugar down. The recipe came out great and I will make it again. Very simple just takes some time, patience, and love...but hey that is what makes cooking so great.

SO PLEASE STOP BASHING THE NEELY'S AND FOOD NETWORK ABOUT THIS RECIPE...BE A COOK AND WORK WITH IT....THAT'S COOKING. ENJOY I KNOW WE ARE ENJOYING IT!!!

I've tried to make banana pudding twice in the past but my attempts were unsuccessful. This time I used the Neeley's recipe and was happy with my pudding! I DID tweak it a little after reading the reviews. Patience is definitely key when stirring the pudding. My pudding took an hour to thicken. After about 35 minutes of stirring costantly (as one of the reviews recommended I stopped stirring as much and it thickened on it's own. Also, I recommend decreasing the sugar to LESS than 1 cup...maybe 3/4 cup. I used one cup and it was still to sweet and I usually love my desserts to be very sweet but 1 cup of sugar is still too sweet. Also, I like my vanilla wafers to be soft so I poured the pudding over the cookies and bananas while it was still hot. I can't wait to make this dessert again!

After reading the reviews on this recipe, I was also very leery about trying it out as well. I knew deep down inside that The Neely's would not put nothing out there that was as terrible as some people had described. I did cut out some of the sugar and took the advice of the reviews but I NAILED the recipe on the first try and it was delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You must be patient while waiting for the pudding to thicken and it will. It is an awesome recipe and don't be discouraged by the negative reviews
