This is NOT gumbo. No self respecting Louisianian would ever put ketchup in a pot of gumbo, let alone RAW okra. The okra has to be cooked first to get the slime out of it. And ketchup is for french fries, not gumbo. If I could give this recipe 0 stars I would.

Not gumbo! Check out River Road cook book for a real pot of gumbo.

I loved this recipe! This was my very first time ever making gumbo and it was sooo easy! I added smoked sausage to the recipe and also added more tobasco and worcesterhire. Everyone loved it and I will definitely be making this dish again.

I loved this recipe..but, I used smoked sausage, instead of chicken..loved the flavor..very easy to make..but, don't start preparing your ingredients, when you are hungry..since it has to simmer 2 1/2 hours..I suggest mid morning for lunch, or mid afternoon for dinner..great with cornbread.

my grown daughter who does not like onions, celery,or okra LOVES this recipe. I have told everybody I know about this recipe. They can't beleive my daughter ate this gumbo with tomatoes, onions, celery, and okra. Thanks for the mind changing meal. P.S. She and my husband said I can make this AGAIN AND AGAIN.
