THIS IS THE BEST GUMBO I'VE EVER EATEN. MY HUSBAND IS HARD TO PLEASE AND HE ALWAYS EATS TWO BOWLS. MAKE THIS WITH GARLIC BREAD AND A NICE DESSERT, AND YOU CAN IMPRESS ANYONE. I MAKE THIS OFTEN.

This is a very good gumbo recipe, but I will agree with other posters that it is somewhat bland. However, like most recipes, I tweak it a little with some of my own favorite spices and it comes out great every time. My family rarely leaves leftovers. Good job Pat and Gina!

it is the most wonderful dish
and if you don't like that much okra then just add half of what it calls for or none at all

Nana worked out for this recipe..lol....I really enjoyed preparing it and I used rice with it which what my family normally uses in their gumbo...I did have to use a little more hot sauce but it was a hit with my baby..Great choice Neelys.

I've never had gumbo before and I could not stand okra growing up. I made this dish for the picky eaters in my family and there were no leftovers. I caught hubby and my 12 year old son scraping the pot. Thank-you so much this will stay in the family and be passed down as one of our family favorites.

This is a pretty bland gumbo. I added salt, a lot of hot sauce and more than a dash of worcestershire, and it still didn't appeal to me. It's okay, but I won't make it again.
