This dish was incredible. Very easy to make. Ive been trying to find a recipe similar to my grandmother's and this was pretty close, but overall great flavor. Everybody makes their gumbo different and it was a little bland, so I added some beef bouillion (grandmother's tipfor a little flavor. GREAT JOB NEELYS....LOVE YA!!!

I have been eating gumbo for over 70 years.

If gumbo is properly prepared by 100 different good cooks , it is impossible to tell which is best. They will taste differently, but they will all taste good.

I like the Neelys' method of mixing the chicken and seafood in their gumbo, it,s not a cajun thing but it is good.

The same can be said of the bartender and the martini

I had to add a lot of hot sauce as it was pretty bland in taste overall. Simple to put together though. I've had just as good a soup and stoup from Rach though and made in less time.

I loved it. I am in college and it was a great and easy project for my friends and I. We loved every bit of it the OKRA, Chicken EVERYTHING and I am just learning how to cook. So it meant the world to me. I am going to try and make it for my beautiful family once I get home.

This recipe was a huge hit at my family's Sunday dinner. We've never had Gumbo before as we are of latin decent but the flavors were great and this turned out wonderful. I fed eight adults and three children and there were no left-overs and clean plates. If Gumbo gets better than this, then I can't wait until my trip to New Orleans.

I absolutely love the Neely's, but after reading the reviews, I modified the recipe before I cooked it. First of all, I had 12c of chicken stock, two bay leaves, and used some sausage that I pan fried. I am sure if you do this, you will absolutely love this recipe.
