Try a REAL gumbo from Emeril. They don't know what they are doing. You should cook the okra in a skillet to get the slime out before dumping it in.

This is a great recipe. I added spicy sausage and imitation crab(my son is allergic to shellfishand it was very good and kid pleasing. The ease of preparation was great and the flavor was amazing!

This dish was simple to prepare and very very flavorful. Great with the rice. I have made gumbo recipes in the past which were complicated with lots of steps but this one is so easy and it tastes great. I have been to the south alot and New Orleans in particular and this gumbo rivals what i ate there.

I don't really care for okra. It's too, too slimey for me but this gumbo minus the okra was good and not really hard to make. I really enjoy watching the Neely's interact. It's great seeing Black folks cook, really cook on Food TV. Now, if they can put G. Garvin on.

This is a terrific recipe, Gina made it look so simple and it was. Everyone in my family just loved it, I will definitely make it for company now. I added Emerils essence at one point and added a little more spice at the end along with a bay leaf. It was so great as is all their recipes

I used gumbo file' instead of roux and it came out great. I like the way file' taste.

I think this is a great recipe for someone who does not have all day to make gumbo.

By the way a gumbo roux can be any color as long as it is not a blanc roux.

Since when did the acadians settle in mn?

This was just ok for me but. Although I'd like to try it again to see if I missed something. Its a recipe definitely worth trying on a cold winter day. Kudos!

Easy to make and enjoyed by my whole family. It's not the best I've ever had, but still worth making. Perhaps M from MN should vacation in Memphis and eat at the Neely's restaurant to see what real cooking is like. The last time I checked Minnesota wasn't exactly known for its culinary masterpieces.
