I'm a compulsive baker when I'm stressed out. This was the first time I've ever made cinnamon rolls. I followed the recipe but as I said I was stressed and didn't have pecans or raisins so I substituted cranberries and sunflower seeds. They came out perfect and had that nice peel off effect that you get from a Cinnabon. I took them to work and my coworkers LOVED them.

These are wonderful! And so easy to make. Not so sure why there are ANY negative reviews... perhaps your yeast was bad?
I am new to baking breads. I just followed the recipe with the exception of the number of rolls. I ended up with double the 8 called for in the recipe. They turned out wonderfully. My family loved them. This will be one I make again and again. Thanks to Nana and the Neelys for sharing this gem of a recipe!

I followed the directions exactly, with the following changes (all procedural. Before speading the butter/brown sugar/cinnamon, I brushed the patted-out dough with 2 tsp milk (this helps keep the filling from oozing out during baking. I cut the rolls into 16 pieces, not 8, and put them into two greased cake pans. I let them rise for another hour after cutting them. Because they were smaller, I baked them at 375 for 15 minutes. And I removed them from the pan to cool - I figured they'd get glued in there with that butter/sugar combo.

That said, I thought they were very good and turned out beautifully - attractive and delicious enough to give away to friends as a treat. True, this is not a soft roll, but you can tell that from the dough recipe. If you want a softer roll, look for a recipe that contains a quantity of powdered milk. Frankly, I think the raisins and nuts combine beautifully with the sturdier bread. I think this recipe is very, very good.

Definitely not for the calorie-conscious, but we're talking cinnamon rolls, people!

BTW, always have your ingredients at room temperature if you want good results with yeast.

This was the first cinnamon rolls i've ever made from scratch. I don' t know why but it turned out to be hard and not soft. I made mini cinnamon rolls out of them and even though they were hard, I still ate them. I found Paula Deen's recipe for cinnamon roll to be better. It was soft and yummy. Don't get me wrong! I love watching the Neelys on TV & have tried a few of their recipes & they were great.

I never tasted such delights. I could not believe that something this good could have come out of my kitchen. I used to think that nothing could compare to Cinnabon. The rolls in this recipe are not as soft as Cinnabon, they are more of a rustic type. I personally find them better. Just to let you know, you can substitute powdered sugar with Splenda to cut out some of the high suger in the icing. Also, let the mixer continue to run until you get a good ball shaped dough. DO NOT be fooled and add water, let the mixer do it's job and it will transform the dough into a nice ball. The people criticizing this recipe, you must not have done something right, because this recipe ROCKS.

Basically, our Christmas morning was ruined by these cinnamon rolls that never rose. We ate them and we all wished that we would of just bought the can of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. They were very dense and hard. I am a person that cooks all of the time and this was not me , it was the recipe. I could have been working on my other side dishes for dinner!
