People who like this have not had a lot of cornbread stuffing, and that's what this taste like. For those who are used to good southern cornbread stuffing, there is just no substitute for having some home made cornbread in this dish. I should have known better, and Paula Dean has noted this on her cooking show. The dish was pasty and that's what you get with just bread crumbs. No one in my family liked it, as they are used to granny's stuffing. I had to throw it away. You can make good stuffing with these bread crumbs as a filler, but not by themselves. Also, it takes much more chicken stock to make good stuffing, and it's cheaper to make your own by boiling a nice fat hen. Good stuffing is not figure friendly, and can't be made as quickly as this recipe suggest.

I would love to say I used the recipe as written. However, I did not have plain cornbread stuffing so I used Herb Seasoned stuffing. This will be a holiday staple from Christmas 2008 going forward. This was tasty, moist and filling. I received many compliments, and there were no leftovers. Thank you !!!

Yes, I agree the video was a bit different than the recipe as it appears in print. However, I made it without the bourbon and it was still good. The negative rating was from someone who doesn't even like conrbread stuffing so take than with a grain of salt. It would be the same for me if I rated a salmon recipe.

I prepared this recipe with slight variations. I used some add'l ingredients from the Neeley's video which included bourbon, and italian sausage. Your video was on point!! My family loved it on the Christmas table lthis year!! My sister usually makes the dressing every year b/c I usually can't get the consistency right but these ingredients in the Neely's recipe won't allow the dressing to dry out. Excellent! I can make my own dresing now w/o having to bother my sister on Christmas Holiday.
Thank you Neely's

I thought this was ok - was really expecting a lot, considering the fresh herbs, pecans and bacon, but we thought this was just ok. We are not really cornbread-stuffing-people, but thought we would give this a try since it sounded so good. Might try it again sometime, but will switch back to our "Joy of Cooking" wild rice dressing for Christmas dinner.
