I just made this recipe after seeing it on the show. I enjoyed the fried mushrooms but only after I dipped them in ranch dressing. The texture was really great but I don't think, on their own, the mushrooms had enough flavor. I will probably make them again but try to jazz up the flavor a bit by adding something else...what I don't know. My husband, a real skeptic, was not impressed. Mr. "hard to please" would have given them a 2 star rating.

I made these mushroom fries for my grandfather since he is the only one in our house who likes mushrooms and what do you know my daughter, husband and I loved these. This is a great way to get someone to eat mushrooms. This is a keeper

I made these as an alternative to french fries and they were a huge hit. Even my 7 year old loved them!!!!

Although the breading was time consuming, it came out delicious. I would definitely make this again although for more of a special occasion.

I made these as an appetizer at a party and they came out wonderful. Sometimes fried food does not taste good if it sits out, but that is not the case with this recipe. Breading was a little time consuming, but definitely worth it!

I made these right after the show and they were awsome! My ten year old daughter really loved these and she doesn't like mushrooms. She even requested that I make them for our New's Year's Eve party. We love these and they are very easy to make! Definitely a keeper!

Made recipe exactly as written. I have to be honest with you, I really didn't expect to like these. In fact I went as far as to cut up some zucchini stick to make the same way so the effort wouldn't end up being wasted. I was pleasantly surprised that not only did the portobello mushrooms fry up beautifully but they also tasted GREAT! I expected the mushrooms to be floppy and terrible but they looked so good on the show I had to try them. We enjoyed both the breaded mushrooms and zucchini sticks. This recipe was so good I've added it to my permanent recipe book. A quick note though. It would be nice if poeple would stick to actually reviewing the recipe and not whether they like the hosts or not. Also, a recipe should be reviewed AFTER somewone makes it. Not if they are only thinking of making it. People reading recipe reviews are interested in exactly that. Thanks a bunch Neelys for this very tasty keeper!!

I don't know how anyone could call this bland. Good eats through and through from the dipping sause to the panko crust! Love 'em.
