I hate to write a negative review but this was like a mouth full of flour.
I understand what would have made it better before I started cooking...making a roux first and cooking the taste of flour out of it. That's what I'm going to try the next time.
In the meantime I've got a lot of leftovers. So I'm going to try adding some cream cheese to the mix on re-heat and hopefully mask all that flour flavor.
Another idea I have is to grill the corn first the smokey flavor may just be the bomb.

Made this for Easter Sunday with ham and fresh beans. The family really liked it. I am used to freezing my own corn each summer but ran out before Christmas. Used frozen silver queen from the grocery store and substituted fat-free half and half for the cream. Will maybe use a tad bit less sugar next time as silver queen corn has so much natural sweetness. Loved it with the bacon grease. Also used light butter at the end. Not exactly heart healthy but oh so good!

This is a big hit around here everyone loves it. I even substituted plain yogurt to make it healthier and my husband and family members were unable to tell the difference.

I made this for the time for dinner and my daughter loved it!!! (as well as I did also!! This recipe was easy and very, very good!!! I used frozen corn instead of the 8 ears of corns suggested and added a little garlic poweder to the recipe and it was still fabulous!!! (I love garlic on just about everything!!! I am making it for Thanksgiving, but exchanging the heavy cream for "PET milk" (can milk. It still tastes as good as using the heavy creamy!!!
I will add this recipe to my collections!!!!!

Real creamed corn is a food. It doesn't need flour to cheat the thickening. Bacon fat, butter, cream, and sugar make this a contrived non food. Would never, ever make this concoction. Creamed corn means that you "cream" the corn, not make it out of cream and especially not thickeners. Adding a bit of cream is cool. . . Even if you love bacon and bacon fat you could surely add it to a real creamed corn.
