This recipe was very tasty and simple to make. I did add some roasted garlic cloves which I roasted w/ the tomatoes. I also added a pinch of oregano, a tsp. of basil, a sprinkle of red pepper flakes and a shot of Jack Daniels. We love spicy and this soup did it. I've never made tomato soup before but I know I will many more times. I also used a blender b/c I don't have an immersion blender.

My family and I love this soup. I decrease the cayenne and add the seasonings to the shallots instead of the broth but this is the only tomato soup my family will eat now. I have even adapted the recipe and use the basics to make a butternut squash soup substituting the squash for the tomatoes, omitting the tomato paste and using nutmeg instead of cayenne. Tonight we made the tomato version and wanted grilled cheese but didn't feel like making it so I just threw a handful of shredded cheese into my bowl of soup and am soooooo happy I did. It was amazing!!!

Soup came out amazing!!!! My husband cant stop talking about it. Really easy to make, just follow the recipe. One thing that i did differently, i took of the skins from tomatoes after i took them out of the oven! Other then that, I recommend this soup to everyone!!!!!!!

The first thing I did was go to Walmart and buy an immersion blender, then made the soup. When I got ready to blend it, the blender was faulty and I couldn't use it, so I put it in my regular blender and it worked just fine. However, I'm not crazy about the little pieces of peel, so next time, I will put it through my foley mill. Flavor is great ( I left out the cayenne, and oh, so much better than Campbells!!!

this soup is really delicious... I am newly celiac and as such can no longer have my beloved campbells soup :( this is a lovely alternative and I will make it again...
I used red pepper flakes as that is what I have on hand and I added some feta cheese... delicious!

This is honestly the best tomato soup I've ever had. I cut down the cayenne to 1/4 tsp. as had been suggested by many people and I think that's the perfect amount unless you want it to be VERY spicy. I also added 4 garlic cloves, which I roasted with the tomatoes. I believe everything needs some garlic! And I also added about 1/2 Tbsp. of oregano. It was truly delicious and the fresh basil on top gave it the perfect finishing touch. My whole family loved it and it will definitely become a regular!

I HATE THE TASTE OF FRESH TOMATOES..BUT I LOVE KETCHUP, SAUCES, AND TOMATOE SOUP. MAY SEEM WEIRD. I WAS LEARY OF TRYING THIS SOUP FOR FEAR OF THE STRONG ACIDY TAST I THOUGHT MIGHT COME THRU. BUT I WAS VERY VERY PLEASED WITH THIS SOUP..IT IS WONDERFUL. I DO NOT THINK I WILL BUY CAMBELLS ANYMORE NOW THAT I KNOW WHAT TO DO..AND ALL FRESH INGREINTS..MUCH MORE HEALTHY
