This was delish! My husband had never had pecan pie before Thanksgiving because he always said he didn't like it...he LOVES it now! I did not have buron and only light corn syrup but it was still sooo good! Thank you Thank you!! Next time I will use a deep dish shell as I ended up with a bit more then could fit in the regular shell.

Pecan pie is my favorite, and I'm always on the lookout for the perfect one. This is pretty darn good. I've never tried a chocolate pecan pie even though I've been seeing the recipes for a couple years now. The filling sets up beautifully and the pie has a nice, rich flavor. Not too sweet, just the way I like it.

I do think, however, that the bourbon taste comes out more as the pie ages. My pie was made on Wed night and my Fri night piece of pie was the first one I could actually taste the bourbon in.

What can I say but, WOW! This was the best pecan pie I have ever had. It made me do a dance in my kitchen. Luckily I was the only one in the kitchen at the time. Anyways thanks to your brother, Tony for sharing the recipe, and for making a military wife, whose husband is deployed, happy. I know it is just a pie, but it really was good. Tony put a big smile on my face, and in my soul. So thanks, I needed that. My husband will thank you too when he returns and I make it for him.

This was a BIG hit with everyone, specially with my 4 year old nephew who closed his eyes tasting this delightful chocolatey treat. For some reason, though I stuck with quantities called for, I ended up with a lot more filling, but I put the rest in small dishes and baked them along with the big pie (these are what my nephew ate, about 1 1/2 small ones!. It was really great and easy to make.

I had a bit of problem with the whipped cream as I'd never so much as attempted to make it from scratch. I think we overbeat the cream and ended up (twice with big watery chunks, but finally got the right consistency and it was well worth it!

THANK YOU! This will definitely become a family favorite.

If you like the taste of burbon leave the recipie as is and it's great. If burbon really isn't your thing it would be wise to cut it in half or substitue/omit the ingredient. The pie is very rich and velvety. I couldn't eat a lot of it but the family enjoyed. It is one that is very presentation savvy as it looks wonderful.

Ok, I haven't made this yet. But I will tonight for Turkey Day!! Then I'll come back and write a review while I'm eating it. From what I saw on the Neelys and reading all the reviews here...it's going to be wonderful. And when I make recipes, I like to use the best ingredients. So yesterday I went to William-Sonomans and brought their Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract (rated 5 stars...which is devine to cook with. I'm not making the homemade whip cream. I brought Cool Whips French Vanilla last night instead. So stay tune.

This is an awesome recipe. You really should use a deep dish pie crust. I made a small change and used Amaretto instead of bourbon. It was amazing!! Total flavor extravaganza!

I followed the recipe but ended up with too much filling for one pie crust, so I split it into two pie crusts. My roommate said there are deep dish pie crusts, so I probably should have used that, but the recipe didn't specify. Live and learn. I haven't eaten them yet as they're for Thanksgiving.
