I just made this pie and it came out really good! I didn't add the bourbon and substituted one tablespoon of the vanilla instead of the teaspoon. I also used salted candied pecans which made it taste better. I used a ready made pie crust from Trader Joe's which was excellent. I highly recommend that frozen pie crust! It is really flaky and 10 times better than the big box grocery brands. The only advice is to make the pie in advance before serving it. It really needs to set and tastes better from the fridge. I am also going to use 1 3/4 cups of candied pecans the next time I make this recipe. Thanks to the Neely's for a great pie!
Tips, use unsalted butter and use really good chocolate. It will make a difference.

I've decided to make this pie this year for Thanksgiving. After reading the reviews, I think I'm going to reduce the bourbon and use a deep dish pie crust. I have one question for those who have already tried this--should I use unsalted butter? Please help...thanks

This recipe is great!! I made tartlets so I only needed the filling recipe. The flavor was delicious. Another slam dunk Neely family!

I didn't use the bourbon and I could only find semi-sweet mini chocolate chips but the pie was still delicous. I love pecan pie and I am a chocoholic so I got the best of both worlds!!!

I have never been a fan of pecan pie, but this was fantastic! Personally, i would use a little less bourbon than what the recipe calls for because the bourbon was a little too strong for me. My husband loves it!! Overall it was VERY good! Perfect dessert for Thanksgiving.

I would first like to preface this with the fact that I've never been a fan of pecan pie however this one was awesome!! I recently made the pie for a Sunday dinner and all the friends and family including myself looooooved it. I had enough filling to do two regular size pies (not deep dish and every crumb was eaten. I did not add the bourbon and never missed it; the pie was delicious!! I will definitely be making this one again. It was easy to make even for non-bakers like myself. Loved it Loved it Loved it!!!

I made this pie at a barbecue with my family and friends last night and it was the highlight of the evening! Everyone absolutely loved it! I didn't have any boubon so I didn't use it and instead of milk chocolate mini chips I used regular size semi-sweet chocolate. It still turned out great! Will definitely make it again!
