This recipe was Fantastic!! Lite on fat and very filling! I used 2 cans of canned clams, and juice from a bottle to equal amounts given. The substitution was fine! I also did not have celery on hand, so I used carrots instead! Improvise when necessary. Thank you Ellie!

I thought this soup was great and I made it exactly as the recipe was written. I when to Whole Foods for the frozen clams. They had frozen clams to sell, but they weren't packed in juice. So I bought 1 pound of the frozen clams (which was plenty and a jar of clam juice. It worked out great!

Full disclosure, I had to use canned clams (I tried several stores looking for frozen without luck, but I would be very surprised if frozen clams would fix this. I am dieting and I thought this might make a reasonable treat, because of its reduced calorie approach. I think if I were to do it again I would use about half the clam juice to balance it better against the reduced creaminess.

This was quite good. I will make it again. Love Ellie's healthier versions of everything! I found the frozen clams at Whole Foods, they were a little pricey. I think that one container will give us enough clams. I will try that next time.

My boyfriend and I tried this recipe. We loved the clam flavor that came through! it was quite creamy, though next time I think we'll use half and half instead of cream to make it a tad more rich and sweet. The only complaint I have was I thought there was too much celery, and that it almost watered down the chowder while in the cooking process. Still though, a wonderful chowder!

We loved this recipe so much that we ate it for lunch and dinner :-. I could not find frozen clams so used canned - turned out well. I also used 1/2 and 1/2 rather than heavy cream. This is a new family fave!!
