Well it was okay. I love chocolate cake and I love pears but I found that I dont love them together. Definately needs longer than 30 minutes to cook as well. Maybe I'll try again with some other fruit, maybe cherries (not pears, apples or any kind of stone fruit for sure.

The dessert came out alright, but wasn't as sweet as I prefer for a dessert. I think "pear"ing it with a creme anglaise or other sweet sauce is a good idea to accompany this recipe.

I'm going to make this tomorrow. I have ripe, fresh pears that I need to do something with otherwise they'll go to waste. I'll update after I taste.

UPDATE: I just sampled a small bowl while it is still warm. I must say, I am surprised. The ripe pears were not a problem. This is good! Is the batter between the pears supposed to be a little runny like a lava cake? If not, then it is a tasty mistake. I will make this again.

I have served this great chocolate/pear dessert at least a 2 dozen times. Everyone LOVES it.
I must confess that when I first made it and saw how thick the batter was I added 1/3 C of the
lite pear juice. I will never stop making this easy, even elegant dessert, sometimes served with whipped cream or ice cream. Thank you Nigella, I have made many of your wonderful recipes and love them especially your margarita ice cream.

This is a quick, easy and delicious dessert to make on the fly, if you have the stuff on hand. I usually have to go get pears, but really, it's no big deal. I have made it a number of times and it always goes over well. It doesn't need anything, but you could certainly add chocolate sauce, ice cream, or even cookies with it if you like. This recipes is in Nigella Express if you have that book as well. You wouldn't think of chocolate and pears together, but, it's really good. Just don't make it too often, or you'll spend a lot more time on a treadmill than you planned!

The nice thing about it was the ease in putting it together and the common pantry-staple ingredients. However, the result was just okay. It works if you're looking for an easy chocolate fix, but for me it didn't have a "wow" factor.

Does anyone know if this is the same recipe as the one shown this morning? I would like to try it, but noticed that some of her other recipes are different online than on her show. Someone below mentioned the amount of sugar printed on this recipe is slightly different.

How much sugar should be added? On the show she says 2/3's cup, in the printed recipe from the Food TV it says 1 1/2 cups sugar. It is a big difference in amounts.

Really enjoyed this -- as advertised, nice and gooey! The one change I would suggest is just a pinch of salt (1/8 - 1/4 tsp., I'm thinking, would be perfect. Even sprinkled a few grains of kosher salt on top before "zapping" it the next day made ALL the difference. (And, yes, it reheated well... Heartily recommend this one with that one change -- with or without the chocolate sauce! Thanks, Nigella!

It's moist, gooey, and rich. It's so good it doesn't even need chocolate sauce!
Easy and quick to prepare, too.
