I really love making this pantry dessert. It comes together easily and has a great flavor. The pears are an unexpected and different twist for a chocolate dessert.

An unexpected combination - canned pears and chocolate. This is amazingly easy and yet very satisfying. The batter seems to thick and not enough, but it comes out perfectly. Use the best cocoa you can find (I used scharffen berger, it really makes a big difference.

This was a great dessert! We served this warm with whipped cream, and it was delicious! I was worried when the batter was very thick and didn't "drop" onto the pears like the instructions said, but I spread it around with a spatula as best I could. As it warmed up in the oven, it continued to spread over the pears, and it turned out wonderfully. Everyone in our family agreed that this was a "do again" recipe.

This was certainly easy to make but it was just OK. It needed something - I would try to serve with whip cream next time and cook it a little longer.

I was craving a gooey, chocolate, homemade dessert, and I remembered watching Nigella prepare this pudding. I had all the ingredients on hand. It was prepared and in the pan in less than 15 minutes. I wanted to serve it warm, but dinner was an hour away, so I just covered it with foil, and left it on the counter. Then I preheated the oven during dinner, and baked it during dinner. It turned out perfect! Everyone adored it! I will make sure I always have the necessary ingredients in my pantry to whip up this yummy dessert!

I made this pudding for my birthday; it was an ideal finish to the meal. As another reviewer suggested, I served it with vanilla bean ice cream. The best part: I made it ahead of time and popped it into the oven just after we finished the main course.
Nigella is the queen of simplicity. This dish will not disappoint.

Made this last night for unexpected guests, and it was fabulous...the chocolate is so good on the pears. I thought the batter was too thick, but it turned out great. I served it with vanilla ice cream on top and it was to die for.

The gooey, rich cake batter melds perfectly with the pears to create an awesome dessert. I will be making this again.
