This one is a keeper. The chocolate custard alone is enough reason to try this one. All your chocolate lover friends will adore you forever!

this recipe is made even simpler by buying Devon Custard and adding melted chocolate to the custard. Also by buying already made chocolate pound cake.

Not an easy recipe (particularly for a novice like me and some of the items weren't readily available in the states (I substituted raspberries for the cherries, but it was delicious. You should note that the recipe serves a large crowd.

I made this recipe for 2 Christmas Parties that I recently attended. My dessert was the hit of the party. Both the men and women couldn't say enough good things about how good it tasted and how beautiful it looked. And I couldn't stay away from it after the party. I was so proud of how beautiful it looked and that I had actually made this myself. It is by far my favorite dessert.

Made this for Christmas day dessert - it was gorgeous and everyone loved how it looked. It was way rich...i had a normal trifle bowl and really only needed about half the cream on top. The custard turned out delicious as did the cake part. I make this again for a large crowd.

I seldom make desserts, but 'tis the season and after reading the rave reviews I decided to make this for a holiday gathering the other night. It's easy to make, super-duper rich (you really taste that brandy...the crowd loved it but you can only eat so much. The family's favorite part of this was the chocolate custard & whipped cream. The remainder of the bottom layer of cake and cherries ended up getting tossed. I'd make the custard again!

WOW! The custard alone is to die for. Incredibly rich and chocolatey. I used 72% bittersweet chocolate from Trader Joe's. The cherries and cream will offset the chocolate perfectly. I can't wait to serve this to our guests tomorrow on Christmas Eve! BTW, several in our family don't like anything with alcohol in it, so I just used the juice from the jar of Morello cherries to moisten the cake. It's fabulous that way! (I dipped a piece of cake in the juice to test it out. YUM
