The only criticism of this recipe is that she didn't tell you how long to thicken the custard. I stirred it about 8 minutes on the stove, and when it set overnight in the fridge, it was perfectly thick.

I was on foodnetwork.com looking for a dessert to bring on Christmas Day and came across this recipe. I'm embarrassed to say I have never heard of Nigella. I thought the recipe sounded great and saw that she would be on Sunday and tuned in. I think both the chili and chocolate cherry trible recipes looked terrific, and I will try both. I especially feel Nigella had a great personality, not at all uppity as stated in one of the reviews. I know she will be added to my FoodTV favorites. I am making the trifle for Christmas. Welcome Nigella.

I never thought of making a trifle before, but what a great first one to try! Very easy to make, and I even made it a day ahead. Everyone raved about it, and now I will add this recipe to my list of regular standbys.
