After making this, I agree that perhaps the spices need to be doubled to give it more flavor. The meat was tender and juicy, yet a bit bland for my taste.

Good, but nothing special. I followed other poster's advice and doubled all the spices. You could taste the different flavors, and while they complemented the chicken well, it didn't blow any of us away. Will probably not make again.

So succulent and tender! We make this all the time and use the leftover meat for various dishes the following days; sandwiches, tortillas, gyros etc. Or just fresh out of the oven with baked potatoes and veggies.

This was really easy to make. The preparation was only a few minutes. I made a few minor adjustments based on what I had available at home - I used chicken breasts instead of thighs, whole cumin instead of ground, honey instead of maple syrup, and I baked the chicken with the marinade poured on top. I was only able to marinate for about 6 hours before baking but the chicken turned out tasty and moist. This is a good, fast weeknight meal; I served the chicken with mashed potatoes and my husband and I really enjoyed it. I would make this again.

not enough flavor. I used powdered buttermilk, instead of straight buttermilk...maybe that made a difference. should double the cumin and maple. cant even taste it. it was very moist though

Excellent recipe! I followed almost exactly but used 1/4 chicken legs instead of just drumbsticks so had to increase the cooking time to about 50 minutes. The dark golden colour of the crisp skin was gorgeous as well as delicious! This was my first try at one of her recipes and a huge success... even my picky 8 year old enjoyed it. Served with broccoli & cheese rice (package with fresh broccoli added in for an easy family dinner.

This is my family's favorite chicken recipe. It is fabulous. I used chicken thighs, 2 tsp ground black pepper, 2 T maple syrup, 2 tsp cumin. The salt was the same. Marinated overnight. Easy, delicious, juicy, tender, and perfectly flavored. I will definitely make this often. I served it with plain white Rice and braised Romaine lettuce.

I doubled the garlic & the cumin. I don't have maple syrup so I used honey instead.Turned out great! very juicy drumsticks. I really like this simple recipe.

I really like this recipe. I only had about a 1/2 hour to marinate this, so I upped the the maple syrup and added an extra garlic clove. Probably didn't make a huge difference. I also didn't have buttermilk on hand, so I mixed milk with apple cider vinegar. Additionally, I sprinkled a bit of salt over the drumsticks after I took them out of the marinate. I probably wouldn't have needed to if I let it marinate longer. We tend to like things with a little sweetness, so towards the end of the cooking time (which was about 40 minutes for me I brushed the drumsticks with some pure maple syrup. Yum! I can imagine these being great room temperature, or even cold for a picnic. I'll definitely be making these again!
