So delicious that I made a second one in January 2010, after we'd finished the one I made for Christmas.
One of the simplest cakes to make, too!

I made this for a potluck and it wasn't very popular. You have to really like prunes to like this one. Definately not worth the time and expense to make it.

This cake is just delicious!! I made it last year for my family's christmas cake and even those who don't usually like fruit cake absolutely loved it! I also made it for my sisters wedding cake and everyone raved about it and I got many requests to make them one too! I know I will be making this cake for many years to come!

Absolutely delicious. I baked one back in 2009 and aged it for a year. I wrapped it in platic wrap and put it inside a plastic cake saver and put it in a cool place. I would unwrap it about once every 6 weeks and spray it down with rum. Awesome results!

Its still moist days later!!...I hate coffee so changed the liquer to Cointreau and just used various sizes of silver balls and silver choc smarties...might actually have to bake another one for New Years Eve as only 1 slice left!!

So moist and rich. Made it as a Christmas cake for my mum-in-law and it went down a treat! I also added extra cocoa powder and once cooled, skewered it and poured more Tia Maria into it. Absolutely yummy.
Also made it without the oranges (I didn't have any in and added chopped dates and extra Tia Maria and milk. Still tasted wonderful.
Once marzipanned and iced lasts as long as any fruit cake wrapped in tin foil.

Absolutely delicious and keeps for weeks. Third year in a row I am making it and another plus is the amazing smell through the whole house as it cooks - better than any Christmas scented candle! The only tip is that I use double the amount of cocoa powder - tastes like a fruity brownie. And and as I am not keen on currents i used dried cranberries and blueberries. But any dried fruits will work. That's the beauty of Nigella's recipes, you can tweak them to your liking as long as the proportions and moist ingredients are the same and the results are still fantastic. this cake is delicious....
