What I love the best about this cake is that the frosting got hard almost like candy and it kept the cake nice and moist, goes great with a tall glace of ice cold moo, I also like my cake cold so I keep it in the fridge, its also not overly sweet, its like alot of european desserts , it wont send your blood sugar into overdrive!

This cake was good. Was not the greatest I ever had, but it was easy to make.

I've read that Nigella uses Bensdorp brand cocoa. You can buy it at Dean and Deluca stores or on their website. It's a high quality dutched process or European style cocoa.

The cake is gorgeous, plump, nice texture. Icing sweet, lush, creamy. But the cake itself has almost no flavor. I used Nestle's cocoa, would be curious to know if other types of cocoa might make for more chocolate flavor. There are much tastier recipes for chocolate cake available, like Nigella's chocolate loaf or Ina's brownie tart. Nigella's recipes are usually winners, but not this one!

I usually have to have a mood for a rich very sweet stuff. Usually, I'm very picky about frosting/icing on any cake and is the problem for my taste buds with a lot of recipes. I noticed she didn't use too much sugar first of all for the cake part and I really liked that she used bitter chocolates for glaze. I actually wasn't sure what kind of sweetness would be the result, but the cake tasts with nice gentle sweetness and bitter chocolates and confectioning sugar creates a perfect sweetness for the glaze!!! It even satisfied my husband who is a sweet lover! It was a hit in our family! It just because I love strawberries, I put slices of them between 2 layers with white whipping cream. It is very easy to make and is a wonderful elegant cake for any occasions! But once again, this is not a rich sweet sweet cake.
