I'm making these for a flag day party, and i'm going to add red and blue food coloring to the frosting. They just look so fun to make and I'm really excited to see how they come out!

I am no baker - I hate it but I have 2 little girls who are always asking me if we can bake a cake or cookies, etc. I saw this episode while on my elliptical machine, and I thought it looked pretty straight forward. I was able to bake my first batch of cupcakes with my 2 little girls, and not only were they fun to make, but they came out looking professional and tasting yummy. The girls had a blast decorating them - instead of flowers, we used all kinds fun sprinkles and balls. Thanks Nigella for creating this no-fuss baked-from-scratch recipe!

I've made these cupcakes for several birthday parties and they're great. I think they're an interesting cross between a sugar cookie and angel food cake. They're sweet and light and fluffy. I only make the cupcake recipe and then top them with homemade whipped cream. It's a keeper!

I had no problems with this recipe. The cupcakes came out wonderful and I used margarine from the tub and approximated the butter. I had no problems.
I used her chocolate gnache recipe for the frosting and it rocked although I approximated that also.

The cupcakes turned out great! It's a great recipe for beginners or if you need a recipe that you can whip up in less than five minutes. I made the cupcakes with regular chocolate frosting instead and they taste very good. Will definitely make again!

I use this recipe all the time and they always come out great. But I just made them with unsalted butter today and found them a bit bland. So I made them again and added 1/4 teaspoon of salt. So either use salted butter, or add the 1/4 teaspoon salt if using unsalted.. Just my opinions...

I have to thank contributions from Zach and Traci. I made these today and sent them off to my daughter's school. I've yet to hear reviews about them but the icing did hold well with sprinkles.
Though I did not use 12 muffins cups ( because her class has 20 students I used mini cups and to me, it turned out well. I was a little apprehensive when I first made the frosting but prevailed because what Zach had wrote.
I have to say I was very pleased and will certainly keep this recipe. Now, I just need ideas for the toppings! lol
Keep up the good work, Nigella and thank you!

These cupcakes did not have the typical ?cupcake flavor?, the texture was more like a muffin. Definitely too much butter and sugar and not enough flower. It was too sweet and not in a good way. I would strongly suggest using another recipe.
