Absolutely scrumptious and delightfully easy to make. It lasted less than an hour!

This was FANTASTIC. I did not have the special syrup so I but 3/4 cup molasses and 1/4 cup light corn syrup and put it in a 5" x 7" pan and my family devoured it. Definitely adding it to my favorites, thanks Nigella!

This was outstanding- I topped it with spiced pumpkin whipped cream and it was a huge success! For the whipped cream, I mixed 1 cup canned pumpkin with 3 tbsp sugar, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, a dash of nutmeg and ground cloves and about 1.5 tbsp whole milk. I whipped some cream and added the pumpkin mixture a bit at a time until I thought the taste was ideal. The gingerbread was delicious by itself, but even better with the whipped cream!

This is probably the best gingerbread I have ever made---or eaten! I found Lyle's Golden Syrup at a local supermarket in the British foods section. Love that it's made of real cane sugar, not corn sugar. This is amazingly moist, easy because of the preparation in a saucepan, and absolute perfection with a little sweetened whipped cream. Thank you, Nigella!

Holy cow! Made this on a ski vacation dinner on St. Patty's day. FABULOUS! Moist, very flavorful, not too sweet. Rave reviews by all. Will make it again tomorrow and take it to work so as to be worshiped by my team.

Moist, yummy, fragrant, and EASY quick bread. Made this for an Irish Breakfast Brunch cutting it into 2inch cubes. Not one piece left! I too was unable to find "Lyles" syrup, so I used Dark Karo Syrup and it was lovely. It has the texture/consistancy of any moist quick bread (such as zucchini, pumpkin or banana, so don't overbake. Cook until sides just start to pull away from pan and still not 100% set in the middle. Guinness added moisture and bubbly lift, there is only 1 cup for the entire 9x13 pan so not an overbearing flavor if you don't like Guinness.

The one star is for my pathetic effort not for lovely Nigella's recipe. I followed the recipe word for word but when I sliced it into pieces the center was stodgy and a real disappointment.

We first tried this gingerbread at a book signing for Nigella Kitchen at our Williams-Sonoma, and fell in love. I have now made this recipe many times this fall/winter season. It makes the whole house smell yummy! I love the fact that I don't have to even touch my stand mixer to get the ingredients together, and that cleanup is super easy with the idea of lining the baking dish with aluminum. As far as finding the Lyle's, if you can't find it at your local grocer, (Wegmans carries it in the UK section try King's table syrup- I have found that to be an acceptable alternative when we don't have Lyle's around the house. Everyone loves this gingerbread when I make it; thanks Nigella!

Absolutely delicious, and SOOOO easy!! Does anyone think I could substitute buttermilk for the sour cream? and could I serve it hot as a pudding? Thanks
