    Please STOP using one star when you have a question!!!!
    This brings down the rating of the entire recipe. This is a great recipe, but putting one star, then asking a question totally dilutes the system. Thanks!

    @Aubrey's Gramma - Nigella used plastic trees and reindeer and dusted everything with powdered sugar.

    @Andrew White - Kmart carries golden syrup http://is.gd/h7ocb

    @Barb
    J.S. The show is made for American audiences, hence the oven temperatures. If you watch Rachel Allen Bake! on the Cooking Channel, the show is British and her oven temperatures are in centigrades. For golden syrup, Kmart carries it, as you can see at this link: http://is.gd/h7ocb

    I'm making this recipe for my work Bake Sale in December. What did Nigella use as the "trees" for decorating?

    Great recipe. I always like recipes where I can use a good dark beer like Guiness, and this was a surprising twist.
    Very good.
    Some of the ingredients like the golden syrup (cane syrup may need to be translated into US available ingredients for the unwashed masses here in the US.
    If the stout is too pungent for you, try a nice porter that you like such as Highland Brewing's Oatmeal Porter. If you want a different twist, try a mocha stout for more of a roasted chocolate twist.

    Deb it was confectioners sugar, I think she called it frosting sugar or something like that. Jenn her temps aren't the same as ours, must be a British thing!
    How do you reply to people without wiping off you're original post? Anyway the golden syrup, whats up with that?
