This is love in a bowl. Wonderful way to cook a chicken and if ANYBODY ever needs comfort food this is your dish. Made it for a very sick friend and felt so good delivering such a lovely gift to their door. Thank you Nigella's mom - this is a Brit recipe to stop all the negative chatter!

This chicken is comforting and makes great leftovers. I made it for my mom once when she felt sick, and she felt much better afterwards!

This was really good and made the house smell wonderful while it was cooking. It needed a fair amount of extra salt but that was the only adjustment I made. My husband had three bowlfuls! I had read swensonconnie-1's comment before I made the dish so I removed as much excess fat from the chicken as I could before cooking. Per Nigella's suggestion, I let it sit covered for about 10 minutes before serving. The fat rose to the top and I skimmed as much of it as possible----and there was A LOT! Nigella doesn't worry too much about fat (she doesnt' say to drain ground beef, either so I always keep that in mind when using her recipes.

I loved this method to prepare a whole chicken! I actually served the chicken over dumplings and used the cooking liquid to make a creamy paprikash sauce. Endless possibilities with the praised chicken. Delicious!

I have made this almost once a week this winter. It is so easy, and we love having some left over for lunch/dinner the next day. My only complaint would be that, because the chicken is cooked whole in the 'soup', I realize the next day (after the leftovers are refrigerated how much fat is present. Of course, that makes it taste great, but I'd love an easy way to remove some of the fat at the time that it's cooked, or before serving (the first day.

This is a lovely recipe. I've tried it many times now with great success. There's often too much for just me left over, but my boys help me out! (2 Dogues de Bordeaux.

I love most Nigella recipes and this was no exception. I've posted it on my blog along with many other Nigella recipes: http://studentchef-beyondbakedbeans.blogspot.com/

The recipe was easy to follow and came out perfectly. I added more of the veggies and served it over the brown basmati rice. My family loved it.

I was worried this might not have enough flavor but I was greatly surprised! Absolutely delicious and we served it with brown basmati rice too; dill and English mustard really added to the dish. This will be a winter staple :
