please don't waste your ingredients. DRY and NASTY - I was so sorry I decided to make this for Valentines Day. My family thought I was NUTS! and was trying to make them GAG! ANY plain boxed cake IS so much better - ECH
There has to be an error somewhere in this recipe -not enough "wet" ing. don't bother!!

Moist and no fuss, Kitchenaide mixer works great too. Throw it all in and whip it. Square or round pans are great and didn't need to be a removable bottomed pan, popped right out clean after 10 minutes.

This was not the rich, dark, old fashioned chocolate cake I was looking for. Too dry, not chocolately enough. Would not make it again.

I AGREE WITH THE MAJORITY.....A TYPICALLY DRY CHOCOLATE CAKE, BUT THEN AREN'T MOST CHOCOLATE CAKES DRY AS OPPOSED TO DEVILS FOOD?????? HOWEVER, THE ICING WAS EXCELLENT, & A MODEST AMOUNT------GOOD FOR FUTURE MOIST CAKES.

Even though the frosting rated five stars, the cake was dry and crumbly so I only gave the whole recipe a three. I love a moist, dense chocolate cake and this one was just the opposite. Even though I would't make it again, I am definitely keeping the frosting recipe.

While this was easy to put together, the end result was very dry and crumbly. Perhaps it needs more butter or sour cream to help moisten the batter. Frosting was good!

I followed the recipe exactly. This was a very dry, tasteless cake. In the trash it went! Too bad. I was so looking for a delicious chocolate cake, too.

This is the easiest chocolate cake I've ever made from scratch. The sour cream gives it an edge I've never had before, but now I don't want to eat a chocolate cake without it! I didn't decorate it, the frosting made it look gorgeous enough.
