This was the first time that I made a chocolate cake from scratch. It was very easy to make and the whole cake disappeared within hours.

This cake was easy to make and taste wonderful. I made this for my family and they loved it. It was almost all gone in one day. I am a true chocolate lover. Unlike some of the other review I read my cake turned out very moist.

I did this for a family reunion and was a complete hit!

    I would not change anything!!
Just a comment on how you grease your pan, I may have done it a little too much and the cake is very soft and spongy, so it broke a little.

I loved this recipe. the frosting was absolutly delicious. it was so creamy and rich. the cake had great flavor and was great, i have to admit it could have been a little more moist, but hey if somebody gave me a piece of that cake i would be more than satisfied. Thanx Nigella for the fantastic cake recipe.

Reminded me of my grandmother's prize winning cakes but easier to make. I did not find it to be dry at all. Mine was VERY moist. I was not able to get the frostong thick enough however. I finally gave up because I had used so much powdered sugar. Even though it was not beautiful because of the runny icing it was still delicious. My kids loved it and want it again. What more can you say! Thanks for the great recipe!!!!!!

I made this cake for my daughter's 13th birthday, and I've just started cooking again after about a year hiatus. Recipe was easy. Followed the suggestions of using a food processor, which made it very easy. Found I needed to put in more confectioner's sugar to get the frosting to the right consistency. Frosting is very good. I would have liked the cake a little more moist. Family loved it...big time. Also, the size is very nice. You don't get a humongous cake, but a nice 5-6 serving cake (of course, I like bigger pieces.

I used Nestle Semi-Sweet Chocolate...which was very good and Hershey's cocoa for the cake. I didn't let the butter sit out long enough, so I had to chop it up in the cake mix after pulsing the food processor.

It only took mine 25 minutes to cook.

A friend made this cake for a birthday party that I attended recently. At first I thought that the cake had fallen! I was quickly corrected - one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever tasted and the icing is to die for! I highly recommend this cake!

This is a wonderful cake. AND its very easy to make! Just dump the ingredients into the food processor, give it a whir, pour in the pans and bake. My cake pans don't have removable bottoms, and even though I greased them the first time, one layer stuck, so I am careful to do a very good job greasing the pans. My husband says this is the best cake I've ever made. Needless to say, I make it all the time! For Christmas I made it a 4 layer cake and people were swooning over it. The cake itself is a little dray (that's the old fashioned part, no pudding in this mix but not overly sweet and cloying. The frosting is very rich and equally easy to make. I highly recommend this recipe!
