We made this for a party last night and no one could stop eating it. The combination of spices may sound strange, but trust me--it's delicious. We used smoked paprika. It is salty, but I like salty popcorn. I think the key to getting it to coat the popcorn evenly is to not let the butter mixture actually bubble...just let it melt and stir it in.

Tasty and addictive! Make it even better by using your air popcorn popper. We didn't think it too spicy and thought that even kids would like it.

I went back and watched the episode again thinking the recipe may have given the wrong amount of salt. My spices were not as dispersed in the butter as Nigella's appeared on the show so I don't know if the problem is I needed more than the 1/2 stick of butter or I should have stirred the butter mixture to disolve the salt and suger. If the problem had been that it was to sweet, that would not have really been a problem. After trying to pick out the kernals with visible clumps of spices and still got unpleasantly salty bites, I gave up and threw out the batch.

This really is tasty and a bit surprising. The only thing I changed is that I salted the popcorn after I had already added the butter/spice mixture. I did this because on my first attempt, the mixture came out very clumpy and I couldn't get it to spread out among all the popcorn. Also, I only added about half the salt.
BTW, Nigella is hot!

This is such a delicious recipe and super easy. We've made it three times the past few nights it was so good.
THE KEY THOUGH was roughly halving all the ingredients (except the oil and popcorn to make the popped corn...I kind of winged the amount; test it out according to your taste. We found the full strength recipe was way too intense and rich. Halving it makes a light, favorable snack that is hard to stop eating.

I knew that the recipe as written would make a huge batch, so I adapted the butter & spice mixture to use on a bag of microwave popcorn. I used just a tiny bit of salt, and I used smoked paprika. This definitely isn't your run-of-the-mill blend of flavors, but I really like it. The true test of this, though, was that my husband liked it (he is NOT a popcorn fan!. I'll be using this again & again.

This is a very savory snack with middle eastern flavor. It makes a ton of popcorn so you'll definitely want to share with a friend.

My son and I just made this and LOVED it! I like to cook East Indian and Moroccan food so I'm used to and really enjoy spice combinations such as these. As for the salt I used one quarter called for then adjusted up until I got just the right salty, sweet flavor we like. I thought this recipe was wonderful and I'll definitely be making it again. Thanks Nigella!

I love flavored popcorn. When I saw this one on the holiday show this AM I was very excited to give it a go. What a disappointment. There was NOTHING good about this. We ended up giving it the old heave ho into the garbage pail. Too salty and the spices were not compatible.
