This was horrible. Wayyyy too lemony and sweet. I dipped my finger in the icing to taste it before icing my cupcakes, and it tasted bad, but I thought it might taste better on the cupcakes. I was wrong. I had one bite of a cupcake, and I didn't eat any more from the batch. The icing literally made me feel sick to my stomach. DO NOT make this, you will regret it!!

I've been a Nigella fan for years but have always had mixed results with her baking recipes. This icing wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I'm not much for overly sweet things. I waited in line for a cupcake at Magnolia in NYC and was thoroughly disappointed because it tasted like a sugar cube.

This icing was very candy like and tasted much better the next day. The texture was interesting in combination with the soft cupcake. If you are going to decorate them, though, I do recommend doing that immediately after you ice. Don't wait until you ice all of them because it will be too hard. Next time I think I'll add vanilla. I didn't taste any lemon at all.

The icing turned out great. I don't know why other people had a tough time with it.

I don't understand why everyone hates this icing. Did you make it wrong? It was creamy and delicious. If it fell apart in dry, hard chunks then you must have messed it up somehow. It took us about a week to finish them and the last one was almost as good as the first. The icing goes really well with the cupcakes, which are amazing.

This icing started out well, but dried out completely very quickly. I used powdered egg whites since kids were having them. When the cupcakes we ate the cupcakes, the icing fell apart in dry hard chunks, like chalk. Very disappointing. Good cupcakes, though.

Frosting looked pretty but dried hard as a rock....tasteless, also. The vanilla cupcakes were excellent, though. Very, very good.
