I made a healthier version, replacing some of the ingredients with Agave Syrup instead of honey..Splenda Blend instead of brown sugar..almonds instead of peanuts and I did use flaxseed in the place of the wheat germ, sometimes I use Almond Butter instead of Peanut butter..everything else remained the same. I line the pan with non-stick foil, add mixture..place non-stick foil over the top and press down very firmly. These are delicious and addictive.

Tastes great. After reading other reviews that spoke of the crumbly nature, I baked it, as recommended. It is still so crumbly that I cannot use it as bars. Bummer!

Yum! Substituted what was in our kitchen. Because we used dates, we should have omitted the brown sugar. Taking to our son's musical tonight for intermission treats.

This is amazing. I made these over the weekend and brought one to work for my mid-morning snack. The bar and a handful of almonds totally lasted me til 1:30pm!

I did a few things different based on what I had on hand. Crushed oatmeal flakes cereal instead of brown rice cereal. Cranberries instead of figs and almonds, milled flax seed instead of wheat germ, walnuts instead of peanuts. I also baked mine for 25 mins (but I didn't pre-heat the over, I just stuck them in then turned the over on to 350. Held up great and I loved the crunchy outside and gooey inside.

Has anyone tried these using agave sweetner?

These bars tasted really good! They had a lot of sweetness but also provided long-lasting energy. I found that they were really sticky and mushy even after being cooled in the fridge overnight, so the second time around I baked them in the oven at 350 for about 20 minutes. It made a huge difference; they were crunchier and I was able to put them in a plastic bag for on-the-go.

Crumbled despite being refrigerated....tasty as "granola" but not what I was trying to make. I did use "puffed rice" so, can anyone suggest what might work better? It seemed the dry ingredients far outweighed what the "binding" ingredients could hold together. Would like to try again but am hesitant to have another disaster.

I love these! They are super easy to make, and I'm only 12.

These were great. I made a couple changes: instead of the brown rice cereal (couldn't find any I used Rice Crispy cereal, opted out of the peanuts and changed the figs to dried cranberries. Thanks for the recipe!
