Just made some with M&Ms... yummy! I know they are supposed to be kinda "healthy" but oh well :

I made this recipe 2 days ago. The only alterations to the recipe was instead of adding the wheat germ ... i double the amount of oats. I added slivered almonds, dried cranberries , and a mix of dried strawberries rasberries and cherries. All my fruit was dried from the local farmers market . It was the best! So much better than store bought. My family loved it, even my very picky 5 year old. We will be making these for a very long time! TY food network for another great recipe.

I've made these bars almost weekly for a couple years now and my family loves them. I use about 3/4 of the brown sugar, less salt and "heap" the peanut butter and honey amounts. I also always use craisins and dried bananas for the fruit and almonds instead of peanuts. Yum!

Has anyone worked out the calorie count for these bars? Thanks!

I just made these tonight and I used dried cranberries instead of the figs, but I'm sure the figs would be great as well! I did find them maybe a touch too salty but that can be easily tweaked! Ultimately a awesome breakfast or snack!

I thought these were delicious but couldn't get anyone else to eat them beyond the first. I thought they were great for breakfast or afternoon snack.

I used 1/2 c. almond butter and 1/4 peanut butter and slivered almonds instead of peanuts and they are really good but a little too sweet. I think next time I'll cut out the maple syrup and decrease the amount of brown sugar. Another problem is that, like others have said, the bars don't stick together very well. I might leave out the canola oil next time to increase adhesion but who knows if it'll work.

I thought these were the best energy bars l've EVER tasted! l made them gluten free by using gluten free oatmeal and gf-brown rice crisp. Also, used flaxseed meal instead of the wheat germ, but left everything else as is. I am always looking for gluten free snacks my children will enjoy. This is a healthy snack you can feel good about. A Definite Keeper!!! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!
