Delicious!!! The brown sugar/orange coating was so delicious. I took these to a family gathering and everyone loved them!! My kids are a little funny about zest in anything, so I also made some plain and drizzled chocolate sauce over. Wonderful!!

I made these donuts, which are more like beignets, as a surprise for my husband tonight. The texture of the biscuits were perfect, the flavor was amazing. We both have blood sugar issues and sweets are a big problem. With these, I can easily control the type and amount of sugar. FANTASTIC! THANK YOU Sunny!

Okay, so if you take 8 biscuits and quarter them, you end up with 32 donuts.

Other than that, I made these and I skipped the paper bag and put the cinnamon/sugar in a bowl and spooned the donuts around and they were great!

I made these last night as a surprise for my (adult daughter. I didn't have an orange in the house...but she loved them even without the zest. I made half with the cinnamon and sugar, and added brown sugar to the mix to dust the other half. She loved them!! Her only complaint...she ate too many. She said "mom there are two problems with these donut holes--they are TOO GOOD and TOO EASY TO EAT." She actually ate half of them before she went to bed! Thanks Sunny. And thanks for sharing your family memories with us.

I first used a mixtire of brown and powdered sugar w/ croissants in a can (or crescents.. Then i thought of using cookie dough inside of them.. I chose crunchy peanut butter cookie dough and the donuts came out moist and fantabulous!!!! I'm thinking of another way now.. maybe strawberry jelly or something.... hmm

My daughter and I used powdered sugar instead of plain sugar and we're very successful in making donuts and holes. They tasted really sweet w/o all of the calories of a regular "cake" donut and the ingredients were inexpensive. We can't wait to try different zests and perhaps even use croissant dough next time.

The combined zest (and I also used a microplaner and sugar wouldn't stick. The zest made the sugar "wet" and enlarged the granules. So we split the donut holes and pressed the cake side into the sugar and the taste as great. I had a lot of the sugar and zest combo left over, so the next day I made muffins and used the sugar zest combo in the recipe where it called for sugar. Once the batter was in the tins, I topped them with a teaspoon of the sugar mix and baked. Incredible! I'm thinking of doing a lemon zest and sugar combo next. I'm also thinking of making a glaze with the zest and powdered sugar-with OJ for the liquid- for the donuts. Finally, if you quarter 8 biscuits, you get 32 donut holes, not 24.

I made these this morning, and LOVED them. I had no issue with the orange zest making the sugar not stick to the donut. I used a microplane grater...I don't know if this helped or not, but I thought the zest was what made them special.
