I've made this several times. Tried it first with just me and my girlfriend and we split one... Fantastic... Went to the Wisconsin Dells with the whole family and I made this for breakfast in our condo. Introduced the kids to it. I quartered the pancake and then put the powdered sugar and whip cream on, most people can get by on a quarter, my 15 year old ate a whole one. I now get requests for this...great recipe.

OGM!! This is amazing! I made one for my husband and one for my neighbor. Just dusted with powdered sugar and served. Next time I will use my 8" pan and make smaller servings. That way it's more of a single serving size. My husband grazed on it most of the morning. It's easy to do multiples at a time. Started with the apple mixture, added the batter, slide into the oven, boom done! Love it! I might try this with berries next time.

Yum!!!! so, first time around, I totally blew it. Sautéed the apples, mixed the batter, then dumped the batter right over the apples... forgot the butter/brown sugar step. Thought it was a throw-away, but put it in the oven anyway. I figured it need a little sweet so I drizzled a little syrup over top. And... YUM!!! Couldn't stop eating it. Light, fluffy, not too sweet.

Meanwhile, started over with a new pan, new apple, etc., and made it exactly to the recipe, with butter and brown sugar... I have to say, my MISTAKE WAY OUTSHINED THE RECIPE. Who'd a thunk? 4 stars for a great idea, 1 star to me for messing up and making it even better.

After seeing this episode of DDD I had to make this for my college age boys for breakfast. I went by this recipe, but doubled it to fit my cast iron skillet and it came out just like on the show. It is very delicious and easy to make. I will next try to lighten it up so I can induldge! CHEERS!

We made as directed using our cast iron skillet. Amazing and will absolutely make again! It is a nice easy breakfast recipe. One note: two adults ate the whole thing by ourselves (this was the only item for breakfast.

Delicious and such a treat! We wondered if the 1 TBSP of vanilla was a misprint? That seems like a lot of vanilla. We were out of vanilla and used 1/8 tsp of almond flavoring. We would cut the butter and brown sugar down the next time and I think it would be just as good and maybe a little more healthy.

Today I tried this recipe for my husband, son, and 2 teenage boys, and it was a hit. I would recommend this recipe for a special saturday or sunday morning breakfast your family is sure to love! On the show they made the pancakes in a skillet, but today I made individual pancakes. After a little experimenting, I decided that it worked best to pour a little batter in the pan, and then drop some of the apple mixture on top. This method worked best for me to flip the pancakes. The perfect start to a cold wintery day! Enjoy!

I was a little intimidated because I'be never heard of a "pannekoeken" but I was looking for something like an apple pancake. this is a little more egg-y then a traditional pancake, but maybe it's better for that. My only oven-friendly pan is a cast iron & I was afraid the Apple and spices would burn as it's harder to control the temperature in the cast iron. Instead I preheated the skillet in the oven and transfered the syrup with a little extra butter when it was ready, then added the batter as instructed.
All in all, it was super quick & easy! I will definitely make it again!
Oh just note that this recipe is only good for 2 people tops unless you have something else to go with it:

I followed the recipe and found the pancake too sweet and it stuck to the bottom of the pan. I did learn something valuable. I want to thank Magnolia Pancake Haus for the sweating apple slices with spices in a dry pan over med-low heat cooking tip. Challenged, I dug out my Swedish grandmother's recipe for ungspannkaka. Her secrets were use a HOT pan and fat in a hot oven. I used a 9" cake pan which I heated while the oven was preheating to 450F. I took the hot pan out, swirled the butter, returned the pan for a minute trying not to loose too much heat. I then got the pan out again, poured the batter into the pan, and returned it to the oven. I reduced the heat to 425F for the first 8 minutes, then down to 400F for the last 7 minutes. Perfect puffed pancake ready for the toppings. I reduced the apple mixture to 1 Tbs butter and 1+Tbs brown sugar. You could taste the tartness of the apple along with the spices and sweet brown sugar. YUM
