I just made this for our Mother's Day cookout. I wish I could have rated it higher! This was the best pasta caprese I have ever tasted! I am going to make this for my son's birthday party next month. And it will be my signature dish for every cookout and party this summer! You must make it with fresh, high quality mozarella. Again, I can't rate this high enough, THANK YOU FOODNETWORK!!!

we made this a few days ago and followed the recipe to the letter. we were very disappointed. not only was the lemon TOO much, there was also a bitter aftertaste to the entire dish. we used fresh, organic ingredients and were looking forward to it but left the meal a little hungry because we couldn't stand to eat more than a few bites.
if i ever decide to try this recipe again i'll keep the pasta, mozzarella, tomatoes and basil and create another marinade. the problem was definitely in the lemon/shallot combination.

We make this over and over again for large parties. I cut back on the pasta a bit so that I can really taste the flavors of the lemon and tomatoes. The heirlooms are where it's at- I have substituted them for regular beefsteak or romas and they are no comparison. I like to make it a day in advance and put it in a big ziploc in the fridge.

My kids, picky eaters, practically devoured this pasta! I will definitely make this dish again - soon!

I was anxious to try this recipe as I have tomatoes and basil in my garden and love the traditional caprese salad. I made it last night and let it be in the fridge overnight. It seemed a little dry and just needs more something. I think I will add a little more lemon or maybe lemon pepper. I did put a little bit of olive oil in my bowl that I put my portion in so it wouldn't be so dry when I ate it for lunch.
Saw the comment below and I agree with it maybe needing some balsamic instead of lemon. That may be the change I make next time.

This was good, not great, and believe me, I thought it had everything going for it. I even was able to get the freshest ingredients - including the cheese - from a local farmers' market, and looked forward to this with much anticipation. Unfortunately, the lemon was just too strong. I love lemon, but I found myself missing the sweetness of the usual balsamic drizzle that I put with tomatoes, basil and mozzarella. It definitely tasted fresh and summery, and it was quite good, it just wasn't the caprese I was craving.

Made this last night for the family, and it was a hit! We love fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil and pasta - I would have been surprised if it wasn't a hit. The dressing is wonderful. Fresh and flavorful! I love the idea of adding chicken, next time!
