I only made the grits portion to go with the beef short ribs I cooked. The grits were amazing! But next time, I'll add more cream to make it creamier! The smoked gouda cheese gave these grits a unique, awesome flavor!
The Neely's recipes is really boosting my confidence in cooking!

I'd been experimenting for a long time for a cheese grits recipe to replace the one I'd used forever until evil Kraft Co. discontinued the tube of garlic cheese I'd loved!! This recipe comes very close to being as satisfying. I did find that if I used a brand of smoked gouda with a windmill on the label, it tasted better than even the fancy Whole Foods gouda.

I saw them on the Neely's show and thought they looked yummy so I gave them a try. I made 1/2 the recipe since there were only 2 of us and we had no leftovers. These are amazing!

I used packaged, precooked bacon bits and proceeded with recipe as shown. I added low-fat cheddar, ha. I halved the recipe b/c there was only two of us and a half recipe was plenty, enough for three to four people; we have leftovers using only 1/2 cup of quick grits. A little goes a LONG way. This must be eaten right away b/c it doesn't reheat well.

These grits are scumptous!!!!!!!! i did not make the collards. i will try that next time. however i will have to watch the salt. not much is needed since the bacon has a lot. and the Goupa cheese is the best!!!!!! i wonder how this cheese and cheddar cheese will do. thank you Pat and Gina!!!!

These grits are awesome! I made this along with Gina's Pimento Cakes for dinner the other night and my daughter said it was the best dinner ever! The grits were easy to make and came together quickly. They do make a lot however, and next time I'll cut the recipe in half since my husband doesn't eat grits. Remember to season your grits while they are cooking...it is impossible to do after they are done. As long as you remember that, these will turn out perfect just like mine did! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!
