Yum!!!! Cane syrup is hard to find on the West Coast. You can make your own simple syrup by adding equal parts sugar to water and heating them until the sugar dissolves. I love this recipe.

I am not a big sweet potato person and have been looking for a new recipe to serve with my guest. I have to say this was one of the best, most delicious sweet potato recipe I have every eaten. I will use it at Thanksgiving, Christmas every year from here on out and I will share it with others on other occasions too. Thank you for sharing it with us and helping to make our Thanksgiving wonderful! Be blessed!

This recipe is awesome. It is a little sweet for those with diabetes but, for everyone else it was superb! It was simple to make and received raving reviews from my guest. The recipe is a stellar production of true southern cooking! Thanks for making my Thanksgiving holiday memorable...this will be a classic for other special days.

I made this recipe last year. My kids loved it so much that I am making it again. This will be my family recipe from now on. I omitted the orange liquer because I didn't have it, excellent without it! Try it you'll like it!

Love this from the Neelys. I didn't have the orange liqueur, i couldn't find it in time. I love the dish still. It has all the right ingredients to make it just sweet enough. I am sure its as good with the orange flavor. Love the Neelys

Although I had a really good sweet potato casserole recipe, I thought why not this one since it looked so good to me. I know you shouldn't tweak a recipe until you make it first, but I hate orange in my sweet potato, so I had to omit it. Instead I used vanilla flavoring and a little rum flavoring which my family loved. I don't like marshmalows either, but my family does, so I did add them. I loved it except for the marshmallows, but that's not because of the recipe. I will definitely use this again because it is a keeper. Another great recipe from the Neeley's. I love them so much because they looked so good in the kitchen that my husband has joined me in there now. That has been a nice treat and has made it so much easier having him be my assistant.

Loved the recipe!! So tired of the old sweet pot. with marshmallow. In fact everyone loved it. Made this for Thanksgiving and am making it again for Christmas. I was going to resort to corn syrup when I found cane syrup! What a difference! I could eat that stuff by the spoonfuls, it's delicious. I found it at Meijers Food Store, in the ethnic foods,British section. Lyle's Golden Syrup (cane sugar syrup. *Sadielp: try another citrus, like lemon and a lemon liquor. Or get away from citrus and try apple juice or cider and an apple liquor.
