I had to add a 1/3 of a cup of water. Just the corn syrup and sugar weren't working. Luckily I had a recipe for peanut brittle out and it called for water. It looks good but have not tried it yet. I've been baking for four days. One more recipe and I'm done.

This was my first time making candy ever. I followed the recipe to a "T", but it did not turn brown in color, was more of a milky color, but it tastes delicious. Now I am ready to take on more candy recipes! Thank you!

Ok, the temperature came up to 310 pretty quickly. I added my nuts (cashews and pecans the butter and baking soda and it turned into a big blob of stick. I spread it on my silpat as far as I could make it go, but it does not look think like Pat's did? Not sure what I did wrong, it's tasty opaque in color not brown like the one shown. Oh well, will try again. Thanks

Thank you for demonstrating how to make this. I have made slow cook Cocoa Fudge, Divinity, Chocolate Dipped Jellies (the Sure Jell recipe and numerous candies and goodies since I was 9 and now 50 years later I finally learned something really new. Gina, you are so right...I can't stay out of it.
I now want to make Toffee Candy like Momma used to make if only I can find the right recipe. It was always crispy thin, crunchy and chocolate frosted with ground nuts. I think she used Bittersweet Chocolate to frost them with. Any ideas?
Making candies and cookies for Christmas gifts is something I have done for years and I will add the Cashew Crunch Candy to my list of things to make this year.
By the way, I appreciate seeing you each smiling so much and teasing so much while you work in the kitchen. Really, it means so much to see TV celebrities work together and be so happy. Again, THANKS! Mickie

This recipe is just like our traditional Christmas Candy called "Aunt Bills Brown Candy". Aunt Bills is the best candy in the world from Oklahoma. However, this recipe was similar minus the cream and pecans and lots more sugar. So I made it anyways cuz it looked like a shorter version. It is and it is yummy and crunchier. I used pecans instead of cashews and it seemed it would never get to 310 but it did. And since I have made candy for 40 years or so this recipe was a snap to do by myself. I have one more hour for cooling till I can have a whole bite of it........
